In response to this week's @disquiet prompt I took fragments of last week's music from @ray_cobley (rhythm track + piano), @user-807707609 (synth arpeggios) and @marcolucchi (plucked strings).

The best things happen in threes, I've always found.

Being an 80s goth, I took an echo, reverb and modulation to make a cut up technique call and response piece. The echo suggests the tempo is faster than the 30bpm.

This was a helpful project as I learned how to slow down audio in Logic Pro, how to mix tracks directly to an audio download, and scratched around the edges of the effects multiverse available in the software. 

I learn in bits or my brain explodes.

I just jammed on top of it with my accordina but it was too much of the three of us, so I split the stereo original, separated he_nu_ri,  mikey_a and myself on 3 tracks (softly panned like the original with mine at centre) and made some very creative use of the delete button, as Eno used to say.

That created some space that I then filled with huge reverbs. I’m afraid I didn’t really honoured the source track on this one, but it is done so I better share it.

This was my contribution for Disquiet Junto Project 0642: Kick from Champagne

Revisited an unfinished piece from a few months ago for this assignment. I had experimented with percussion using a very cool Max for Live sequencer Fibonacci Devices by Lines participant @ithkaa, and figured this beat based assignment would be a great way to complete it.

I incorporated a sample of sparkling water being poured, "Fizzy Fill" by magnuswalker from freesound.org, for the sound of something carbonated. I used a bell-like preset from Slate+Ash Choreographs for the Fibonacci sequenced track. A drum synthesizer track was created using Fors Opal. Within that instrument, I added a "Fizzy Fill" sample to the Slate Granular Sample Player parameter as part of the kick drum and other percussive sounds. A slice of the sample was looped toward the end on one track. Other tracks used percussion and melodies created with Slate+Ash Spectres and SoundGhost Constellations. Effects used: Valhalla Vintage Verb and Room, Minimal Audio Cluster Delay and Morph EQ, and Cableguys ShaperBox 3.

Although it wasn't my intention, this ended up with a little bit of a Gamelan-like vibe to it, so I was happy with how it turned out. Photo is by Adrien Olichon from Unsplash.
