All Night Long DJ set at Hare & Hounds, Birmingham 13th August 2021

This is part of a larger project I’m working on. This was also my contribution for the Disquiet Junto Project 0566: Outdoor Furniture Music.

I created this as an experiment a few months ago and thought it would work well as my interpretation of outdoor furniture music. Since it’s short, it is meant to be looped for however long it needs to be. Eventually, it should turn into an unobtrusive piece of outdoor furniture music. 

This was initially done in Ableton Live using Treetone and Fors (roulette, superberry) Max for Live devices. Audio was recorded onto a Panasonic micro cassette recorder and played back into Ableton at half speed. The final piece reminded me of the sound of wind chimes mixed in with outdoor ambient noise. I remixed the tracks, added a few more subtle effects, and made sure it was loopable in this version. Le temps s'écoule différemment le dimanche, nous offrant la possibilité de sortir du chronos (temps linéaire) pour entrer dans le kairos, l'intemporalité et le moment opportun pour tout fil que nous choisissons de suivre. 
Cette heure a été mixée avec ces idées en tête - une ode à la subtilité surréaliste des dimanches, faisant appel à des sons superposés et à la musique dans toute sa plénitude. »

In response to this week's @disquiet prompt I took fragments of last week's music from @ray_cobley (rhythm track + piano), @user-807707609 (synth arpeggios) and @marcolucchi (plucked strings).

The best things happen in threes, I've always found.

Being an 80s goth, I took an echo, reverb and modulation to make a cut up technique call and response piece. The echo suggests the tempo is faster than the 30bpm.

This was a helpful project as I learned how to slow down audio in Logic Pro, how to mix tracks directly to an audio download, and scratched around the edges of the effects multiverse available in the software. 

I learn in bits or my brain explodes.

I just jammed on top of it with my accordina but it was too much of the three of us, so I split the stereo original, separated he_nu_ri,  mikey_a and myself on 3 tracks (softly panned like the original with mine at centre) and made some very creative use of the delete button, as Eno used to say.

That created some space that I then filled with huge reverbs. I’m afraid I didn’t really honoured the source track on this one, but it is done so I better share it.
