In the Unit 4 Project, I choose to revise the unit 1 language analysis project. In the unit 1 project the prompt was to pick any community, organization or (sub)culture and analyze how whichever group you picked uses language to accomplish their mission statement. My revision and first attempt will connect in many ways; I am still using the same organization as I did before, I will be using the same hook and thesis in my podcast, lastly, I will have some of the same examples that I used in the first attempt. To Revise the unit 1 essay I looked over my first attempt and saw what worked and what needed to go back to the drawing boards. I needed more time to explain my examples better and also to give more when I am talking about the trip, unlike how I saved the exampled all for one part and cramming them in. Another issue I faced was lacking the emotion needed to truly describe the trip.  To fix these issues I made a podcast in which I believe I can fix all of these issues and make the whole concept I was originally going for really come to its true colors with the revision. 
	When I made the first attempt I used 4 examples and for all of them, it was very short and not well explained. The first being the phrase used when turning on pretty much any form of dangerous equipment, “SAW ON!” was used. I picked that example to show how we use language to make sure everyone is aware of a heavy equipment in use and to react appropriately. The next example I used was the way we gave certain tool new or better names then they were originally given. The third example I used was shouting out certain commands like “WATER BREAK” when we would all stop the work and take a 5-10 minute break and drink water in the shade. The last example I picked was the group meeting when we would talk about the cool, pretty, and sometimes awful things we saw that day. That was a key part of the whole experience on ASP and in my opinion the most impactful use of language on the whole trip. For the new project, I approached it totally different, instead of talking about what ASP is and then staying how we use language to accomplish the goal, I went through what the trip was like while also throwing in how we use language along the whole process. Another thing I changed by doing that was making the examples more spread out then the first attempt. 
The reason I made the changed I did was mostly to make the project flow a lot better and it is honestly the biggest thing I was missing in my first attempt. Another reason I switched this from an essay format to a podcast for the simple reason no one's going to want to read an essay on ASP, but someone might want to listen to it. I made the change to spread out the examples to give the project more space. The main reason I picked the podcast, instead of let's say a presentation I upload to youtube, is simply because I have never made a podcast before and haven't even listened to many, and I have made and or done everything else that was an option for the revision project. A big change the podcast did for my revision was let me give it more emotion and lets me set the scene with more clarity. 
Picking a podcast as my mode was a really hard thing for me, I wanted to take the “easy way out” and do something I knew I was comfortable with like a presentation or social media page. I wanted something new and being in college is all about stepping out of your comfort zone so I picked something new and challenging a podcast. At first, I did not even really know what a podcast was, so I researched them and figured out how to record it. One of my biggest concerns is getting my podcast uploaded to SoundCloud. By doing the podcast I learned countless things about speaking and how to better communicate your thoughts into words in a pleasing manner. Overall I am glad I did a podcast and happy with the challenges I overcame.
