Back again for show 17 of the promo show. These are some of the best techno tracks of the last 8 or so weeks. Its always a journey of discovery doing these mixes as I don't really get to hear the full breadth and range of the music really until I listen to the whole mix back. With the amount of music we get sent, the decision to include the tracks or not, gets made within about 5 or 10 seconds of listening to them, and is somewhat done on 20 years of instinct. Editing the hundreds of tracks down in two stages lets me get a feel of where they should sit in the mix and if I like them. I also rarely re-do a mix, not just because of the time it takes but you never really catch the vibe the same way, second time round. So you get the first take on most of these mixes, mistakes and all, with me feeling my way though the music almost blind. There are a couple of mistakes in this mix. A whopper in the middle which I tried to style my way out of and fail. But the main purpose of the promo show is to showcase the artists music and in this regard the mixes are evidence of their original purpose. When they stop being this, or im not into what is being produced, ill probably stop doing the show. Listening to this one back, this is probably the one with the most interesting sounds in it and for me and listening to it back brought me a bit of excitement as it seems to give me a little glimpse of the future direction of the techno sound. At least to my old ears anyway. As usually please support the artists in their endeavours, buy their music, give them a like, or follow them on socials. Enjoy.
