WerQ it Out 2020, Vol. #1: QuaranKIKI

I chose to release this set on June 1st, the beginning of National Pride Month here in the United States.  June was chosen as National Pride Month to remember & memorialize the world famous riots that went down at the Stonewall Inn located at 53 Christopher Street right in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City.  The Stonewall riots began on the early morning of June 28th, 1969.
The sign in the window read as follows:
"We homosexuals plead with our people to please help maintain peaceful and quiet conduct on the streets of the Village."
The Stonewall Inn at the time was owned by the mafia.  It catered to all walks of life but was popular and frequented by the most marginalized members of the gay community including: feminine young men, drag queens, male prostitutes, transgender individuals, butch lesbians and yes, homeless youth.  The riots took place over multiple nights, with thousands of people gathering in front on the Stonewall in support and solidarity.  Once the riots had concluded the Gay Liberation Movement was moving forward in full force. 
On May 17th, 2004, Massachusetts became the first state to legalize same-sex marriage.  Numerous states would sonn follow and on June 26th, 2015, the United States Supreme Court struck down all state bans on same-sex marriage, legalized it in all 50 states.  Thus brings us to where we are now.  Two presidents, Clinton & Obama, both made national proclamations for National Pride Month.
Also today with so much uncertainty going on here in this country, the COVID-19 pandemic, over 100,000 lives lost in the U.S. alone, the protests, riots & vandalism popping up all over this country, 40 million people unemployed and the lack of leadership that the Trump administration has failed to put forward, this set pays tribute to all the struggle going on right now.  Hang in there and stay strong!

Through the years I've had the pleasure of DJing at GayDayS 6 times.  My first time spinning there was in 2010 and I skipped the following year to again DJ the next 5 consecutive years (2012-2017).
GayDayS brought me so many gigs and opened the door for me beyond belief.  I am forever grateful for having the opportunity to DJ there.  So many memories were made, so many friends made and so many connections made.

At long last, we return to the sound of the main room, the circuit party par excellence. The inaugural volume has been, by far, my most played piece on SoundCloud, so I had big shoes to fill when recording volume 2. In the year since I published volume 1, I have gained lots of technical skills and gotten a better sense of what my audience enjoys. I hope to take you on a new journey with this piece with twelve tracks pulled from today's hits and yesteryear's classics. Please enjoy and stay safe out there!

DJ D-STU, Dennis Stuart, began deejaying in 2007 in Fort Lauderdale at a nightclub called the Coliseum.  D-STU’s influencers in DJ’s Manny Lehman, GRIND, Drew G, Roland Belmares, Joe Pacheco, Nick Stracener, Edson Pride, Hex Hector, Joe Gauthreaux, Nina Flowers & Edu Quintas.  D-STU has deejayed all over the country and all of the world spinning at massive festivals and parties including Winter Party Festival (Miami), Black & Blue Festival (Montreal), GayDayS (Orlando), Sydney Gay Mardi Gras, Market Days (Chicago), Aspen Gay Ski Week, Folsom Street Fair (San Francisco), Prism (Toronto), Rapture (Vancouver), Cherry (D.C.), Southern Decadence (New Orleans), White Party Weekend (Miami) to name a few and at some of the largest clubs around including Discotekka (Miami), Score (Miami Beach), The Cuff (Seattle), ARQ (Sydney), G.A.Y. (London), Eagle (Wilton Manors), Eagle (Dallas), Eagle (Austin), Eagle (OKC),, Unity (Montreal), Towne (D.C.), Oz (New Orleans) to name a few.  D-STU’s style is under the “circuit music” label.  In 2017 D-STU took a hiatus in the music field to pursue a women’s volleyball coaching job at Florida Atlantic University in South Florida.  D-STU made his return to deejaying in October 2021 playing at the Living Room/District Hotel and Faces Nightclub in Oklahoma City.  His return to the “circuit” commenced in January 2022 as he deejayed the Atlantis Cruise Bon Voyage Party at Twist on South Beach in Miami.  D-STU made his return to GayDayS in Orlando in the summer of 2023 after a 6-year hiatus.  DJ D-STU made his RAM Party debut at HalloWOOF in Dallas alongside DJ’s Paulo & House of Labs. June, 2024, D-STU spun the premier OMW party, RIPTIDE Party at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoona in association with OMW (One Magical Weekend) & Bear Jamboree.
