This is my take on one of my favorite albums of all time : The Black Keys' Magic Potion. Their third record but first to be released on Nonesuch Records, Magic Potion, was released in September 2006 I got discover the band through the Festival d'été de Québec in 2011, while touring their 5th album Brothers, and their songs performed as a duet completely floored me...and got me back on stage after a 25 year hiatus...

This song describes a person who has experienced thousands of hours in space, and has seen many landscapes and stars. Despite finding none after all of this, he is still searching for “shrines and altars.”
Taken literally, this could mean evidence of other civilizations, or even ancient relics from our past.
Taken as a metaphor, this could describe how this person struggles with religious beliefs after experiencing it all.
