Djêu - groupe de musique Capverdienne - doit son nom à l'Ile aux Oiseaux qui ferme  la Baie de Porto Grande, symbole fort pour les natifs de São Vicente et de Santo Antão.
Le groupe est né de la rencontre entre les frères Elton et Valdir Da Cruz Lima et la chanteuse Mónica Landim, réunis autour de la même envie : partager leur culture et le patrimoine de leur pays en s’inspirant d’un répertoire traditionnel.
En 2016, trois musiciens venant d'horizons différents - Fernando (accordéon), Stefano (contrebasse) et Nicolas (percussions) – rejoignent la formation, apportant d’autres couleurs à ces compositions  inspirées par les mouvements de l’Atlantique.
Aujourd’hui, les 6 musiciens communiquent sur scène leur énergie, leur joie de vivre et permettent à un large public de voyager dans des univers riches en mélodies et  rythmes diversifiés. 
Aujourd’hui, la musique de l’archipel continue de se développer et de se moderniser grâce aux œuvres de remarquables auteurs-compositeurs. C’est dans cette idée d’ouverture aux « musiques actuelles » que le combo vient d’enregistrer à La CLEF (Saint-Germain-en-Laye) son premier EP  baptisé "Preto I Branco".

Djeu - Cape Verdean Archipelago’s music. The band was named after the Island of Birds, enclosing the Bay of Porto Grande and considered highly symbolic by the natives of Sao Vicente and Santo Antao.
It was formed after the Da Cruz Lima brothers, Valdir and Elton, met Monica Landim, a singer sharing their passion for local culture and willing to bring it to life through compositions based on traditional music. 
In 2016, three more musicians, all from different horizons - Fernando (accordion), Stefano (double bass) and Nicolas (percussion) – joined the band, bringing the music new sounds, inspired by the waves and tides of the Atlantic.
When on stage, all 6 musicians share the same joy and energy, inviting the audience to a trip around a world of rythms and melodies.
Cape Verdean Archipelago’s music is constantly developping and modernising, thanks to its remarquable composers. The combo’s first EP, recorded at La CLEF and entitled « Preto I Branco » is the symbol of this opening to « pop music ».
