I woke up this evening following a dream in which I was in some sort of hotel where there were ten or so beautiful Yamaha pianos, in a long line beside one another...each piano more lovely than the one before. Paradise. And in my dream, I had played this piece, which I then wrote down on a lined manuscript pad, when I woke up, with a fountain pen (still half asleep)...leaving blue ink on the fingers of my left hand. I played and recorded it immediately, hoping it would be acceptable to name the Sonata....A midwinter night's dream.
