Love finding little gems like this from the vault. The arrangement is simply stunning, so many elements and you knit them together seamlessly. Such a strong conceit for a song. Amazing.

I've only ever seen little snippets of 'Detectorist's', (usually in the early hours of new years eve, when they put it on back to back)...but the little bits I've seen have the same peacefulness that this song conveys.  Gorgeous swooning arrangements and love all those little sound effects.

A song inspired by one of my favourite tv programmes, BBC's detectorists.

Words:
Fly on a recce surveying for clues,
a reflection or a sparkle, means the world to you.
Then you swoop down and take it and hide it up high,
a treasure trove of goodies, sway in the sky. 
And we all know.

Sunlight is your accomplice in tandem you toil,
hour after hour, through bush, grass and soil.
Probing for that moment, discover like no other,
decades lay unfound, riches abound.

What you need is shimmering, all kinds of precious things,
like rubys and diamond rings they all catch your eye.
And when you see it glimmering, all kinds of pretty things,
you have to stop never pass on by....magpie.

When you find your rainbow,
with it's own crock of gold.
Keep it to yourself secrets never to be told.
And I'll pop on my top hat and tip it towards you,
a gesture for tradition somewhat long forgotten.

Love Never Felt So Good [Single]

Wallowing in the warmth of lower mids and melancholic melody.

Take a large bucket. Add a pint of Neil Young, a pinch of Glen Hansard. Wack in a tea spoon of Damien Rice, then an ickle bit of Tom Mcrae. Shove in a hand full of Mike Scott, a heaped table spoon of Neil Finn and a large dollop of Conor J. O'Brien. Mix with a big stick then strain through an old sock. Pour. What you have is a little bit of Mr C.

Hello good people of the cloud.
I play everything in real time and record and master on a Tascam DP 32 Portastudio. Although three of the older songs on here where recorded on a 8 track tape recorder through an old seck analogue desk.
No pc's are used or abused in the process of me music making. I love tactile recording. Switches, faders, pots and buttons. Mouses are for computers and eating cheese. No Mac, Daws or Windows, Midi or overused plugins. And no automated mixing, compromise being a large part of my final sound
