Chef Kelz is an artist from the downtown section of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. At a young age he was exposed to hip hop, R & B, Jazz and soul music during the infamous 90's era. By the time he was 12 years old he composed music, first rapping in the school yard during break times. During his High School days he became interested in a plethora of different artists and bands like Teargas, A Tribe Called Quest, DJ Kent, Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Bongo Muffin, Joe Thomas and countless other acts. During college days he started a hip-hop/neo-soul group with 2 other friends. They would go on to make songs in their homes. They wound up giving away most of their music for free due to low market and eventually they disbanded. After a year of college young Kelz returned home to focus more on music as a solo artist. Dealing with deep depression and a lack of income which took a toll on music production, he decided that although he didn't want a 9 to 5 job he needed money to sustain himself by working in a hotel for a year. After working on his direction musically, he geared up and released his first single "When I Really Think About It" describing his gratitude for the experiences with a person of interest and lessons he picked along the way. Musically his records are full of passion, personality with his playful flows covering a variety of styles.
