Another cover project from my YouTube page, this time being Melanie Martinez's 'Show & Tell' in character as Angel Dust. It features originally created backing music from scratch.

This is one that quite a few of my viewers have been asking for for some time and I agree that it's a track that fits Angel as a character nearly perfectly. The instrumental was incredibly difficult to recreate as the original had lots of different effects and attention to small details, but I'm very proud of how it came out. 

As with past covers like 'We'll Meet Again', the sound design in the 'introduction was an attempt to better match Angel with how Melanie Martinez originally performed the song. The intent was to make it sound like he's putting on an "innocent" tone in how he says some of the lines, with the song being an internal monologue that he's thinking about when he's been forced to go on stage.

A full cover version of 'Valentino' in character as Angel Dust and Vox, featuring originally created backing instrumentation and sound design. A big thanks to 
Danielle Bradford for bringing this song to my attention and inspiring me to do this one.

The original song almost feels like an anachronism to a scary degree. Originally released in February 2019 by Years & Years and MNEK, more than half a year earlier than the Hazbin pilot, it's a song with two male vocalists speaking about a lover called Valentino who lured them in with charm and trapped them. It's scarily accurate to the show and I knew I had to do it with Angel and Vox once I heard it myself. Especially since it allowed me to imagine/write a scene of them sharing their experiences regarding their 'associate'.

Vox was probably the trickiest part of all this. Obviously, I didn't want to remove the distortion effects I've used for him when he is singing, but too many of them would easily be distracting from the performance and even cloud his words. I decided to focus on very specific "skipping" effects that matched the music, along with using a rather extensive vocoder to really sell the electric nature of his voice. 

This song was also a prime chance to utilise some new instrument libraries I recently acquired, particularly with acoustic guitars and string sections. I don't think this would sound nearly as good without them. Enjoy.

Valentino (Angel + Vox Cover Ver.) [YouTube Re-upload]

In 2019 I recorded this track after watching the Hazbin Hotel series Pilot on Youtube and feeling inspired by the show. It is important to note that this fan-made project obviously has no affiliation with the actual series or its creator.

I wrote this song from the perspective of Lucifer, the father to series protagonist, Charlie. I liked the idea of him visiting the Hotel and having to break down exactly what "Hell actually is" to his daughter, who dreams of rehabilitating sinners.
