History
In the autumn of 2005 the band known as Nestunes was formed. All pieces came together at a Halloween party when Emil(Guitars) decided to join Johan(Keyboard), Roger(Bass) and Lennart(Drums) to form the Nintendo tribute band eventually called Nestunes.

For the first 6 months all the band did was to practice all songs from the game Life Force along with bits and pieces from games like Ice Climber and Kung Fu. On the 27th of May, 2006 Nestunes played their first gig at Swedish cult festival "Kôrpehôls-Festivalen". Nestunes performed a 9 minute long Life Force Medley (type: Nestunes Life force 2006 on youtube.com to watch the video).

The band started rehearsing music from other games such as: Metroid, Tecmo World Wrestling, Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus and many more. When they had a bunch of songs they recorded a rehearsal-tape called "Nestunes - Drunk at Galaxia”.

Nestunes also decided to adopt the look of their favorite Nintendo heroes/villains so they made costumes and started playing live dressed as Starman, Octorok, Link, Mario and Luigi. The combination of great musical material, costumes and humor rendered Nestunes a reputation for being a great live act. In 2009 After a few years of rehearsing and performing Nestunes went into the studio to record "the Nintendo Crescendo" a collection of 10 songs featuring games like:
Ice Climber/Kung Fu, Little Nemo the Dream Master, Metroid, Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Rush n' Attack, Super Mario Land, the Legend of Zelda, Tecmo World Wrestling and Pro Wrestling.

On the 23rd of July in 2010 the "IWADON: Hiroyuki Iwatsuki Tribute Album" was released featuring Nestunes playing the "Enchanted Forest" theme from Super Nes game Pocky and Rocky. Around this period of time Rogers job makes it more and more difficult for him play as often with Nestunes as he'd like so the band enlists longtime friend Josef as a stand-in bass-player. Josef played on many classic live performances. He is now one of two equally important bass players in the band. And the bass player most often seen performing with Nestunes.

in 2011/2012 Due to work, depression and relationships(the eternal hindrance of male creativity) Nestunes experience a period of very low activity until they decide to make a second studio recording featuring all the game-music they had rehearsed and performed live but never had recorded. So in lthe winter of 2012/2013 Nestunes starts the recording with the working name "Nestunes Forever" featuring music from: Castlevania, Chip and Dale, Ducktales, Gunsmoke, Ice Hockey, Journey to Silius, Life Force, Adventures of Lolo, Bubble Trouble, Super Marios Bros. 1, 2 & 3, Megaman 2, Shadowgate, Wizards & Warriors, Nintendo World Cup and Zelda 2. 

The summers of 2013 and 2014 was full of nice gigs . Most of them were recorded and captured both in video and audio by friends and arrangers. September first 2014 the playlist: "Nintendudes - the thumb-blister generation" was created on Soundcloud.com marking the beginning of a 15 week long period of tracks being uploaded with new Nestunes material. The first track was "Vampire Thriller" featuring music from Castlevania and the final song was Marios Medley covering songs from the three first Super Mario titles. Both Roger and Josef played bass on ”the Nintendudes”.
Nestunes laid low after the release of ”the Nintendudes” but Starman remained active exploring the many Wrestling-videogame-soundtracks on his own. 

A few years later Nestunes  was again back at work. In 2018 they did some gigs, much rehearsing and arranging new songs. Turtles and Robowarriors was released late 2019 and there is plenty more coming in the near future.

William Cunningham is a pianist and composer based in Banff, Canada and originally from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.  He is known for his profoundly touching compositional works and masterful improvisational abilities.  Performing frequently throughout Canada, Asia and the USA, he began playing piano and composing at the age of seven and is primarily self-taught. His most popular works are: “Enchanted”, “Magic Hands”, “Orchid”, and the “Poem” series.  His first album was released in 2001 “William”, followed by “Temperance”, “Conception” and “Enchanted”.    

William’s music style is not easy to classify and is often related to classical music, film scores and TV dramas.  Although he enjoys playing classical and jazz, his own compositions do not reflect such forms and have sometimes been classified vaguely as "popular".

At the age of eight, William began performing 30-minute sets at local concert venues in Western Canada and by the age 16, embarked in his first recording at the CBC Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, Canada.  At the age 18, he was invited by the renowned entrepreneur Jim Pattison for a solo concert-performance at his year-end company meeting in Vancouver, Canada.  During the same year, Cunningham went on tour in Cuba, presenting solo concerts in four cities over eight days.  

William was the opening performance for pop artists Peter Frampton and Michael MacDonald in collaboration with academy award winner Marjoe Gortner. From 2005 to 2010, William composed and performed his pieces at the Fairmont Banff Springs Celebrity Sports Invitational Fundraiser for notable celebrities, politicians and business people––some of which include Robin Williams, John, F Kennedy Jr, Buzz Aldrin (the first man on the moon), Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Michael Douglas.

In 2005, William appeared on the Australian daytime TV show: “Mornings with Kerry Ann Kennerly”, and the Canadian reality TV show: “I Do…Let’s Eat”.  William has played for the business events of Julie Shaw with Shaw Communication and Corus Entertainment, Nancy Southern and the late Ronald Southern of ATCO Group, and the Right Honorable Donald Mazankowski, and on two occasions for the Prime Minister of Canada, the Right honorable Justin Trudeau. He performs regularly solo concerts at the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity, the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, and Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.  Notable attendees of these performances have included the assistant to HRH Queen Elizabeth II, the Secret Service, the Canadian and German defense ministers, the Right Honorable David Johnston (previous Governor General of Canada), and most recently the CEO and Chairman of IBM Corp.  

In 2008, Smithsonian artist Mimi Stuart created an ‘Energy of Subject’ portrait of ”Sir William” at the piano, which was auctioned for charity along with the portraits of musician Michael MacDonald and astronaut Buzz Aldrin. In 2010, William played the role of a Gestapo secret police officer in a World War II National Geographic documentary that airs regularly on the history channel worldwide; he has also played the role of Sir. John A. MacDonald, Canada’s first Prime Minister, in a live theatrical presentation.  

From early childhood, Cunningham has been an avid pipe organ enthusiast with “masterful improvisational abilities”, and frequently travels overseas to hear and play some of world’s greatest pipe organs––including the Harrison & Harrison organ at Westminster Abbey in London, UK; and the famous Cavaillé-Coll organ at Saint-Sulpice Cathedral in Paris, France. 

William has completed numerous recordings at both the CBC Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, Canada and the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity, in Banff, Alberta, Canada.  His music offers listeners an audible narrative that excites the creative spirit and evokes inspiration––bringing people into the present moment––making music a metaphor for life!
