Robert L. Rem of Aurora. Rem was shot multiple times at about 8:10 p.m. Dec. 21, 2003, while walking to his grandmother's house on Star Lane. A few days later, Rem was supposed to have visited his mother in Germany, where she was stationed with the U.S. Army after finishing a five-month tour in Iraq. Verdugo and Alanis are each charged with five counts of first-degree murder.

I am the aunt of Robert Rem. He was just 17 years old with a promising future in the music industry. His young life snuffed out in an instant for nothing. I can still remember the smell of death in the emergency room and the look of fear on his face as they pulled the white sheet over his face and pronounced him dead. His eye was open and a bloody towel was wrapped around his head. The agonizing cries of my mother and the phone call to my sister in Germany who was expecting her son to come on the plane home the next day. The most painful memory is the look on his younger brothers face as he was given the task to close the casket, the final memory of the big brother he admired. The arrests change nothing but help to open wounds that will never heal.

Now a PhD candidate writing a poetic thesis on "Diasporic Anticolonial Indigenous Hip-Hop as the Rebirth of Storytelling", a renowned hip-hop scholar, lecturer & university professor, a relentless activist on behalf of Amnesty International, the John Humphrey Center for Peace & Human Rights, iHuman, Plan Canada & many others, a co-founder of the worldwide activist collectives Sadhu Militia & Mutant Akademy, as well as a member of other worldwide hip-hop collectives such as Empty Handed Warriors & RastaFarsi, an affiliate of Cane Corso Records, Observatory Records, and a member of countless crews such as as the kirtan supergroup Vimanas Project, Plague Monks, ATAK, Atlantis Army, 11 Hooks Crew, Fellows of Perfect Penmanship, Monks Of The Paradox, Ascetic Dialect, Sands of Time and many more, Antony has released over
30 albums in the past 5 years, has a dozen more unpublished albums awaiting release, and is in the process of writing and recording over 40 more. Each of these aliases is simply one of many manifestations in a long line of spiritual rebirths: as a non-profit, non-religious spiritual hip-hop artist he is dedicated to alleviating misery and suffering in this all-too-often bleak world and empowering all those who need it 
through poetic & revolutionary words & deeds. Quoting famous anthropologist Margaret Mead, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed individuals can change the world, for indeed it is the only thing that ever has." That is the ultimate mantra we should all live by. 
However, as a poet, there is another mantra we should also remember, which it seems too many have forgotten in the music industry:

"A tongue is a double-edged sword. It can be a weapon, but it can also heal."

Visage began in 1978 when Steve Strange and Blitz Club partner-in-crime, Rusty Egan, joined forces with Midge Ure to create a futuristic, synthesizer-led group where style and fashion were matched with experimental, yet accessible music. They recorded their first demos in EMIs Manchester Square studios and soon honed a futuristic, synthesizer-based sound. They recorded their first single "Tar" with Martin Rushent at his Genetic Studio in 1978 (shortly to become the birthplace of the Human League's "Dare" album).

Later in 1978 the group was augmented with members of Magazine (John McGeoch, Dave Formula and Barry Adamson) and Billy Currie from the soon to be leaderless John Foxx incarnation of Ultravox. Their breakthrough track "Fade To Grey" was written with Chris Payne, the keyboard player from Gary Numan’s touring band. It became a European hit and reached number one in eight countries in 1980. The band enjoyed follow up success with the singles "Mind Of A Toy" and "Visage".

In 1980 Midge Ure and Billy Currie returned to the newly reformed Ultravox and recorded the "Vienna" and "Rage In Eden" albums. The pair returned to Visage in 1981 to begin work on the second album. By this time John McGeoch had left to join Siouxsie and the Banshees. "The Anvil" was released in 1982 and named after a nightclub in New York City. It spawned the hit singles "Night Train", "The Anvil" and "The Damned Don’t Cry". Shortly after, Midge Ure and Billy Currie left to concentrate on what became one of the biggest bands of the early 80s, Ultravox. Steve Barnacle joined to replace bass player Barry Adamson in 1982 and played a key role in creating the stand alone single "Pleasure Boys", released in October 1982.

In 1984 the third Visage album "Beat Boy" was released. The single "Love Glove" became a hit throughout Europe and the "Beat Boy" single followed. 

In 2013 the fourth Visage album "Hearts and Knives" was released. The title was not only a paraphrased lyric from the lead single "Shameless Fashion" but also a metaphor for the past 29 years of Steve Strange and Visage. The first song to be written for the album was co-written with former Visage and Magazine keyboard player Dave Formula. "Diaries Of A Madman". Mick MacNeil the creative musical core of Simple Minds contributed to two songs, "She's Electric (Coming Around)" and the radio friendly "Dreamer I Know" (which was also co-written with bass played from Killing Joke, Youth). The comeback was successfully received and had six tracks released as singles.

In 2014 Visage were invited to play alongside a 30 piece Orchestra to close the World Ski Jumping Championships. This led to the band putting a new spin on the traditional "Greatest Hits" album, by performing new versions of their most loved songs backed by Orchestras.The "Orchestral" album featured a new eight-minute-long symphonic version of "Fade To Grey" as its lead single. Logan Sky, live synthesist since 2009, now joined the band.

In February 2015 Steve Strange sadly died whilst on holiday in Egypt. The world had lost one of its most creative music and fashion icons of recent years. After the shock of losing their leader the band rather than leave the fifth and final studio album uncompleted, decided to press on and complete “Demons To Diamonds”. The album cover art was photographed by Boy George. Musical contributions came Mick MacNeil, Didier Marouani ( Space “Magic Fly”) and featured a cover version of the David Bowie song “Loving The Alien”.

With the loss of their inspirational and majestic leader, Visage decided to disband in 2015 after the release of their final work. Their body of work consists of five studio albums, numerous singles and numerous compilations. For the first time in 2016 - and with the participation of all Visage record labels - the compilation “The Wild Life (1978-2015)” was the first release to bring all of their best loved songs together into one definitive release.

Mic'Heal Tatum better known as his stage name ( TATUM ) was born on February 21st. Tragedy struck him at the tender age of 3 as he literally watched his father killed in his front yard over a drug deal gone wrong. However; it wasn’t until he was 10 years old that he was told the man was actually his biological father, and not his “uncle” as he had been previously told. His mother was also absent in most of his childhood, due to circumstances that were beyond anyone’s control. So without a mother or father, basically an orphan, Tatum was raised in and out of various foster homes. He was labeled a loser and a nothing, look down upon his whole childhood. In spite all of these negative things in his life; he changed his way of thinking and way of living. In 1998, Tatum graduated from Petersburg High School. Growing up in Washington, D.C. and the Northern Virginia area he was influenced by all types of music. Music has always been in his blood. It has been an escape from reality for him. His drug of choice, you could say. What started out as a book of poems he started writing in the 2nd grade has turned into a testimony of his life. His music is heart-felt and brutally honest. His rhymes tell a story of heartache, pain, and also overcoming trials and tribulations. Tatum joined the United States Army, following in the steps of his grandfather, step-father, and uncles. He has been to Germany, France and also did more than a few tours in Iraq. Tragedy struck once again while in Iraq. He was not only stabbed in the side and shot twice, but also hit with an IED (improvised explosive device) Bomb. So he is definitely the living proof of A SURVIVOR! On September 1, 2000, Tatum married Denise Watkins (Denise Tatum) and they have three beautiful children: Mic’Kiya age 9; Mic’Kayja age 6, and MicKaKari age 4. He has also in recent years reconnected with his mother and father.

Life Update 2: Hey guys im back im feeling okay. I went behind the gas station to get the new Rolling Thunder Reminiscents of Africa essential oil, and that sack of assclams rico SCAMMED ME. He put maple syrup in it. So for like 10 days my house smelt like AUNT JEMIMA and Canadian moose asshole. Anyways I was on the train to my hut in Africa, and I see my boy chief of the keef. I dapped him up quickly and dipped to my mud and straw hut. I went to downtown mogadishu, it was my monthly supply of shower and drinking water.  So when i got home I showered for this first time in about 4 years. It was nice. I used camel liver scented shampoo. I then went back on the train and stopped at o-block to make a song with Young chop. We was chillin, but his 400 pound ass hit the dash on me and took my money. what an ass. I then went home and chilled. The next day i went to MoneyGram Park and met up with zack hample again. We snagged like 20 balls JEEEZ. The ball trick was goin hard. I then pulled up in africa and slaughtered a lion that tries to eat my 14 kids everyday. I met up with the senator of mozambique. He smelt like bunyons and a 60 year old corn on the cob. He tried abducting my 7th child Quazawazaqualikwalyumxomnbaye. Heck no I jabbed the MOFO right in the apendix. Life update 3: Hey guys im back, im doing fine. You are now looking at the costco employee of the month. Thats right fuckers. I got given a 1/2 a cent raise. anyways i entered in the somalia's got talent qualifiers and i was competing for the most butcrums picked out of an asshole in 1 minute. I was up against the best of the best. With one minute i tore my shithole tf up. It was all worth it, not showering for 48 months, not washing or wiping my ass since the age of 9. I had a total of 97 ass crumbs jeez louise. I was qualified now im starting to think if i should quit costco i think i might go pro. anyways i went to aldi and found some good ass steals. I found a ballsack moisturizer for like 46 somalian pesos. I went home and used that shit. And my dumbass 11th child shits on the floor. HES LIKE 32. So i made him eat it for dinner. dirty scumbag. Then I went back the next day to costco and smelled some gnarly ass hot dog water. DAYUM. I come home and get a first person view at my 63 year old 3rd child getting it on WITH MY BROTHER WTF. I went ham dude. I took my hand, and remenisced the djibouti belly dancer out of their asses. I found a new girl on Tanki online she lives in the village 10 mins from mine so we might go meet up and drink fresh squeezed milk straight from the cow.
