Standing Up to the Assault on Democracy with Grzegorz Kwiatkowski

In this episode we are joined by author, curator, activist and professor Kerry Whigham. 

Kerry is an assistant professor of genocide and mass atrocity prevention at the Institute for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention at Binghamton University in New York. He is also the director of research and online education at the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities. Amongst his publications is 'Resonant Violence: Affect, Memory, and Activism in Post-Genocide Societies' published in 2022 which he also presented about at the Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre.

Standing Up to the Assault on Democracy with Nayat Karaköse

In this episode we are joined by artists and multimedia storytellers Gabriela Bulisova and Mark Isaac. Gabriela and Mark collaborate on intimate projects designed to bridge the gap between fine art and documentary practices. Their work includes still photography, video, writing and music focused on the climate crisis, mass incarceration, diversity, memory, trauma and reconciliation.

This is the sixth episode of our "Standing Up to the Assault on Democracy" series. In this episode, our experts are joined by father Patrick Desbois. Father Patrick Desbois is a French Catholic priest, former head of the commission for relations with Judaism of the French Bishops’s Conference and is the Founder and President of the Yahad In Unum, an organisation dedicated to collecting testimonies of eye-witnesses and to identify and document sites of mass murder of Jews, Roma and other victims in Nazi controlled Eastern Europe.

In this conversation, she speaks  about her work, activism, than future of Ukraine and shares her positive message about the future for all of us.
