Ke$ha Boys Just Suck

Although there is an emotional depth of loneliness, pain, and a sense of being invisible within visibility in many of my songs, I also love exploring tones that feel quirky and funny because they carry a confident awkwardness. With “The Campiest” I wanted to end this year with a song that could have existed in the 80’s and, with a little support or a kick of promotion, might have been playing in malls, dance scenes, or in a campy movie during a dramatic moment when a character walks away from someone who never truly understood them, all with the spirit of early 2000’s teenage rage.

This year brought a lot of difficult moments. My dad died in August, and although it feels like the loss of a father, my grief will not be linear. It will take years because it is tied to other stressors, intense life experiences, and challenges that cannot be summed up in a post. I do not share everything on social media because I believe some things should stay private, and also because my social circle is small, so I often move through my emotions quietly. That is why art becomes my safest and truest language, letting me express feelings that are too heavy or complex to say directly and find connection in ways words alone canNOT give.

I am a multidisciplinary artist, although past versions of myself would have thought saying that so plainly sounded like too much. Life has shown me that hiding parts of yourself only keeps you from growing. People will always have opinions that do not match who you really are, yet what matters is choosing to stay humble, stay curious about who you are becoming, and keep nurturing healthier ways of being. I hope anyone reading this, no matter where they come from or how different their life may look from mine, can feel that message too.
 All that said, “The Campiest” is my statement in a campy, funny, meaningful, and awkward way. I wanted to close this year with a little laughter as 2026 will bring deeper emotionally wrapped and dance filled sounds, starting with “Rancid Kisses You Left” on January 3.
