haiku #380: each and every star / is brought to light – / how cold

the material on this album which runs a full 71 minutes is not an easy to describe even if the mayhem spewing out of the genie's bottle like some champagne made of pebbles and glass shards reminds me slightly of rudolph grey, sharrock's noise, soixante etages. but that's the thing: it changes into something else. always. with alarming regularity. it gets queit, cavernous, shimmery, calm then somehow bursts like a storm cloud.  it's even weird to imagine it was played, recorded really in all one sitting. but those were the pre-internet and mostly pre-cellphone days. there was a lot more time on our hands to be present, engaged. this isn't exactly all as random as it may seem but don't let anyone fool you it was all mapped out and foreseen. the best of this group was always ahead of itself trying to guess what would come next. it was recorded in 1997 like the songs on Meet The System in the same tiny garage in Williamsburg.  -- JG, March 2021

I recorded myself typing on my works computer, transcribing a commentary of what i was doing and thinking at the time. I then fed this into Gleetchlab and routed and mangled the loop as well as running it through the TAMS physical modeller to make the resonant clangs.
On reflection it looks like I'm an angry typist, my keyboard sounds bruised.

Brought To Light (Naviar Haiku 380)

My second Naviar Haiku challenge (https://www.naviarrecords.com/about/naviar-haiku/). It's based on this haiku that was created with the aid of artificial intelligence:

moonbeams
like fishes –
swim over the river

I hope the allusions are self-evident and although at its core it's based on Chopin's Waltz No 9 in Ab (Op. 69 No. 1), I thought it had elements of early 20th-century impressionist music so I've invented the tag "electro-impressionism" to describe it :)
