Quite interesting section with pizz violin! Still in the spirit of freedom and clever interplay.

I’ve been revisiting an old recording technique I named - “Dragged Mics” - it is what it’s called! I drag two dynamic mics behind me on various surfaces. This one is from my lawn this morning, where the grass was frosty. No edits to the recording. Works great with headphones so you get the full effect of the crazy stereo perspective.

the material on this album which runs a full 71 minutes is not an easy to describe even if the mayhem spewing out of the genie's bottle like some champagne made of pebbles and glass shards reminds me slightly of rudolph grey, sharrock's noise, soixante etages. but that's the thing: it changes into something else. always. with alarming regularity. it gets queit, cavernous, shimmery, calm then somehow bursts like a storm cloud.  it's even weird to imagine it was played, recorded really in all one sitting. but those were the pre-internet and mostly pre-cellphone days. there was a lot more time on our hands to be present, engaged. this isn't exactly all as random as it may seem but don't let anyone fool you it was all mapped out and foreseen. the best of this group was always ahead of itself trying to guess what would come next. it was recorded in 1997 like the songs on Meet The System in the same tiny garage in Williamsburg.  -- JG, March 2021

They don't list psychedelic as a genre anymore. This track is perhaps too self-consciously psychedelic to really be so. Just as every punk in a poser and I wasn't on El Cid when I made this. But it was almost called Denim Dungaree Sashay Cascade but I settled on Corduroy Cascade because of my memory of the hippie girl neighbor (I was 5 and she 19) who walked down the street with bare feet, the cords kind of rippled with her thighs. Then the "cc" made me think Creatively unCommon actions and making psychedelic music without a license, wanting to get into the worlds in between. Well, there it is, illegal, unknowable, like some unofficial illegitimate god being invented on Mars for import one day. New c(r)apital. Made with zither, secret prepared guitar techniques (string fragments, shaving brushes) microphones covered with a condoms to keep out the sophic rain of mercury, one flashback effects pedal.
