80% of the US economy is driven by the consumer generally buying useless things.Capitalism is probably the best societal scenario but only if you couple it with empathy and a reasonable safety net for those who need it. How a society treats its lowest economic class is the measure of the strength and success of that society in my opinion..not how much top heavy wealth is created.
True empathy is more than a passing thought or a superficial wave of the hand.There are plenty of people who have that empathy but there are plenty who don't

Take It

Mount Famine are an 80s influenced indie rock n' roll band from Derby with big synth hooks, soaring vocals and dirty guitars. 'Lost' is their third single and follow up to 'Pulse' which was included in the actor Robert Carlyle's ‘Shit Year, Great Music' Spotify playlist in December 2020 as one of his favourite singles of the year.

Recording started in early 2020, and ‘Lost’ was finished in between lockdowns and is another step towards an album the band are writing and recording.

Derby's Mount Famine are back with their new single Distance; a 3 minute guitar/ synth driven alternative anthem. It marks a return to form for the band, who have previously been singled out by the actor Robert Carlyle and Shed Seven's Rick Witter.

Mount Famine are a post punk/synth infused indie rock n’ roll project inspired by 80s bands such as The Cure, The Psychedelic Furs and Pet Shop Boys. They share a love of the 90s (Manic Street Preachers, Pulp & Suede) and the same desire to tell stories that produce the adrenaline-fueled highs of indie disco dancefloors.

Distance was written on an old Roland synthesizer and beaten up drumkit.  It's about "the blink of an eye and the speed of life. The thing that eventually shows it’s face that you realise is what you needed all along.." It’s their first release in over a year and an attempt to create a short wall of sound ‘up’ that builds from hook to hook before disappearing again in to the depths.
