Suzy was wild and beautiful — fearless, untamed.
She must be dancing somewhere in the angels’ hideout,
on the shards of Eden,
to the sound of electric guitars...

It was through her grace that I was signed by Dave Stewart of Eurythmics,
in the very heart of the eighties.

Suzy — if you ever moved in rock circles, you met her once,
and you probably dreamed of falling under her spell.
“She’s a devil in the sky!”

But in this piece, Suzy is above all an allegory of Rock’n’Roll —
that saving music of my teenage years,
the one I first discovered at twelve,
during the legendary “school trip to England” of the seventies —
right in the glitter-rock explosion: Bowie, Bolan, Slade, Gary Glitter...

And yes, I’m still in love with her —
even more now that Catherine, the Fairy of Lilas, has come to embody her,
with that rough, magical voice...

Hanuš is a holistic collection of remembrance and reflection of my late friends John and Jacob, both of which are the names of the main characters in the film Spaceman which coincidentally became a deep inspiration while writing, recording and forming its concept. The overall theme of the Dreone project (as some may already know from Driftdown Procedure) is that the souls and spirit of my fallen companions live within the systems of a sentient spacecraft and its humanoid manifestation/android, the notion of which allows me the mental freedom to explore the cosmos through music and be a bit more experimental with my sound. This album in particular is about them traveling together through the echoes of memories and the loneliness of space to witness the beginning and end of everything, leading the listener to acceptance through catharsis.
