Out In The World

Introduction in English:

Sometimes I wonder if there is some kind of ‘safe place’ in this world. Everywhere I look: Wars, climate disasters, starvation and poverty. Not to mention the increasing everyday violence at home, in the neighbourhood and on the streets.
As early as 1962, John Lennon described in the song ‘There's a Place’ (perhaps also under the impression of the Cuban Missile Crisis at the time with the acute threat of a third world war) that sometimes the only thing left to do is to retreat to an inner safe place when the outside world (as is now increasingly the case again) is increasingly on the brink of an abyss.
In this respect, this song is highly topical, although I would like to add that the search for the inner safe place should only ever be temporary, in order to regain strength there (for example through one's own musical creativity) in order to make a greater contribution to the preservation of the earth and human coexistence in the outer world.
I am sure that John Lennon meant this kind of fluid balance between gathering oneself inwardly and being lovingly in the world.

Manchmal frage ich mich, ob es auf dieser Welt eine Art "Sicherer Ort" gibt. Wo ich hinschaue: Kriege, Klimakatastrophen, Hungern und Armut. Ganz zu schweigen von der zunehmenden alltäglichen Gewalt zu Hause, in der Nachbarschaft und auf den Strassen.
John Lennon hat (vielleicht auch unter dem Eindruck der damaligen Kuba-Krise mit akuter Dritte Weltkriegsgefahr) in dem Song "There's a Place" schon 1962 beschrieben, dass einem manchmal nur der Rückzug an einen inneren sicheren Ort verbleibt, wenn die äußere Welt (wie jetzt zusehends wieder) zusehends an einem Abgrund steht.
Insofern ist dieser Song brandaktuell, wobei ich hinzufügen möchte, dass das Aufsuchen des inneren sicheren Ortes immer wieder nur vorübergehend erfolgen sollte, um dort (etwa über eigenes musikalisches Schaffen) wieder Kraft zu sammeln, um in der äußeren Welt verstärkt einen eigenen Beitrag zum Erhalt der Erde und des menschlichen Miteinanders zu leisten.
Ich bin mir sicher, dass John Lennon diese Art von Fließgleichgewicht zwischen sich innerlich sammeln und liebevoll in der Welt sein gemeint hat.

Hi everyone! 🙌 This time we're moving from the lightness of Chiptune (https://soundcloud.com/beatingedge/pink-chubby-creature) to something more reflective, something that concerns most of us, or at least those lucky (or unlucky) enough to live long enough to grow old. This song was inspired by a visit to a retirement home. Musically, it's kind of the spiritual child of our previous track "I lost her to a previous version of me" (https://soundcloud.com/beatingedge/i-lost-her-to-a-previous).
👉"Now and Here" is a meditation on aging, presence, and how quickly everything slips through our fingers. It starts in the softness of awareness and builds into a cry for recognition, for meaning, for being seen while there’s still time. We’ve all met someone who used to shine and now barely gets noticed. Maybe we fear becoming that person ourselves.
No fancy tricks here. Just lyrics that hit close to home and a melody that carries them with honesty. It’s a piece for those who’ve ever looked back and wondered where the time went, or forward and felt a chill.

This track is the result of Andreas giving me four random chords, after which I received a vision of the sea around some forgotten ruins on the beach of a tiny picturesque village in Greece which turned out to be called Assini, although I'd never heard of it before.

When https://soundcloud.com/dneye asked me for a track to play his fantastic guitars on, I brainstormed this 5/4 piece with odd chord set in order to make it difficult to him and thus get the best from his skills. After programming it, I added some organic solos (yep I played keys) to make it seem more friendly ;))))

And he... succeeded in the challenge, overcoming all my expectations !!!

The Lost Dream

Deutscher Singer-Songwriter über fünfzig Jahre alt. Seit fast vierzig Jahren schreibe und singe ich Lieder. Mein Hauptinstrument ist die akustische Gitarre, aber ich mag auch Perkussionsinstrumente (Cajon, Maracas, Gurio). Ich liebe es, melancholische und poetische Balladen zu komponieren. Aber manchmal schreibe ich auch (schwarze) humorvolle Songs, Jazzstyle und -Rocksongs. Meine Hauptsprache ist Deutsch. Aber in Zukunft will ich mehr Songs auf Englisch und vereinzelt auch Französisch schreiben.
In meinen Kompositionen bin ich inspiriert von Leonard Cohen, John Lennon, Jacques Brel, Van Morrison und Bob Dylan. Auf meinen Platten spiele und singe ich alles alleine. Meine Vision für die Zukunft ist es, Musiker aus verschiedenen Kulturen zu finden, die gerne ihre Tracks mit mir teilen wollen.
Mein persönliches Mantra ist ein Satz, der von Paul Mccartney auf dem Beatles-Album "Abbey Road auf dem Track "In the end" vor fast Fünfzig Jahren geschrieben wurde:

Die Liebe, die Du bekommst ist gleich der Liebe, die Du gibst.

German singer-songwriter over fifty years old. For almost forty years I have been writing and singing songs.
