Daydreams

I believe
that my life's a whole lot more
than what you see
but I never seem to face reality
or maybe just to face my own mortality.

Sanity.
It is meant for someone else.
It's not for me.
My head it pounds
just like a timpani.
Scattered thoughts so
far away from clarity.

Pardon me.
Seems I've gotten lost again
in my daydreams.
Silly me.
Thinking I can change
this crazy world I see.
No certainty
for those like me.

I believe
the demons in my head
are never gone.
Their winding road
thru my life's been so long.
They only show themselves to me
when I'm not strong.

So I plead.
I pray for all your help
to find the key.
So I can finally solve
this mystery
and be the kind of man
I know I need to be.

Pardon me
but I've gotten lost again
in my daydreams.
Vanity
is believing I can change
this world I see.
If it can't be,
am I really free?

Pardon me
but I never claimed to be
this man you see.
The fallacy
is to think that you can change
a guy like me.

I remain free.
All flaws and me.

I am from Salt Lake and graduated from Highland High, The University of Utah, and again from the University of Utah.  I have a Masters of Science in Mathematics. I am an Associate Mathematics Professor at Salt Lake Community College as well as the principle percussionist for the Salt Lake Symphony and enjoy playing the piano. I love composing & I am working on releasing my first CD.
