A little bit about Annette...
Annette Lang has been active in the fitness industry for over 40 years, working in sales, management, education and personal training as well as developing and delivering education programs throughout the US and abroad. She has presented at international conferences including FitPro, Club Industry, IHRSA, ACSM, Perform Better and IDEA and has a Master’s degree in Health Education. Annette is a successful and certified personal trainer in NYC delivering private sessions and has authored numerous videos, including Pre Postnatal Training Fan, and had a YouTube show called “The Lang Show”.

What we covered:
1.So you've just recorded a course for us on play-based training - why did you feel compelled to create it?
2.⁠ ⁠In the course you cover a lot of scientific background as well as giving 50 great playful examples of play in action - can you give us a couple of nuggets here?

A little bit about JP...
After burning out aged 34 while running his own furniture company and losing his mother to cancer a year later, JP listened to his true calling, joined the fitness industry and became an award-winning educator, speaker and industry mentor. JP’s mission is to show how we are mental, emotional and physical beings, and that nothing can be studied or affected individually. Having sworn for many years that he’d never have children, JP is now a father of four, demonstrating that life is always available for review, new learning, growth, change and adaptation. Since turning 40, JP has managed to defy gravity and grow 1cm taller, thanks to the elasticising effect of myofascial movement and ViPR creating more space in his joints.

Matthew Bowles is 3 x Grand Finalist on Australian Ninja Warrior. Originally from Manchester, Matthew's quiet confidence on the course has given him the nickname of the 'Silent Assassin'. Matthew is an ex-gymnast and ex-trapeze catcher, he also started rock climbing when he was 13. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys free diving with sharks (he can hold his breath for 5 minutes!).

Maria Teresa Stone  is a renowned fitness expert and entrepreneur with over 28 years of experience in the industry. Originally from Mexico, she began her journey in 1996, specializing in both group fitness and water-based fitness classes. In 2009, Maria Teresa was instrumental in the successful launch of Zumba® in New Zealand and Australia. Paul has a proven track record in Leadership and dealing in high-pressure situations, through his former roles as an Airborne Anti-submarine Warfare Officer and a Helicopter Search-And-Rescue Crew Member with the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. He has undergone rigorous Military Combat Survival and Resistance-to-Interrogation Training and in 2012, he became a professional boxer. In 2019, he took up Karate to create memories with his kids and in 2021, both Paul and his 10-year-old Oscar became Australian Karate Kumite (combat) Champions.

As the driving force behind Women’s Fitness Education, Dani understands the effects of fitness and fitness culture on women as well as anyone. When JP discovered she had also competed in stage competitions in the past, he felt compelled to have the conversation no one seems to be having – are they good for you? Whilst this is a very much an ‘opinion piece’ and charts Dani’s journey into, and out of, competitions, and beyond, it does bring some important issues into the spotlight. Her journey began with a love of training that led her to compete in bodybuilding, earning the title of INBA Fitness Model Overall Winner in 2014. Inspired by her own transformation, Danielle became a personal trainer and spent a decade helping women build strength and confidence. Today, as the Student Success Manager and Educator at Women’s Fitness Education, she supports and empowers future female personal trainers through expert guidance, encouragement, and industry insight.
