Silla are the acclaimed Inuit throat-singing duo of Charlotte Qamaniq from Iglulik and Cynthia Pitsiulak from Kimmirut, Nunavut. Known for blending traditional songs with a wide range of contemporary music genres, Silla has been captivating audiences with their hypnotic performances since 2005. 
  
The duo’s name, Silla, comes from the Inuktitut word Sila, which encompasses concepts of weather, land, spirit, cunning, and intelligence. This name honors the deep spirituality and cultural traditions that have kept Inuit throat singing alive, despite attempts to suppress the practice during Canada’s colonial history. 
  
Silla has earned widespread recognition for their artistry, receiving two JUNO Award nominations for their work as Silla and Rise and winning two Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards. Their music is a powerful testament to resilience, culture, and creative evolution. 

Silla est le célèbre duo inuit de chanteurs de gorge composé de Charlotte Qamaniq d’Iglulik et Cynthia Pitsiulak de Kimmirut, au Nunavut. Connu pour mélanger des chansons traditionnelles avec un large éventail de genres musicaux contemporains, Silla captive le public avec ses performances hypnotiques depuis 2005. 
  
Le nom du duo, Silla, vient du mot inuktitut Sila, qui englobe les concepts de temps qu’il fait, de terre, d’esprit, de ruse et d’intelligence. Ce nom rend hommage à la profonde spiritualité et aux traditions culturelles qui ont maintenu le chant de gorge des Inuits, malgré les tentatives de supprimer cette pratique pendant l’histoire coloniale du Canada. 
  
Silla a été largement reconnue pour son art, recevant deux nominations aux prix Juno pour son travail sous les noms de Silla and Rise et remportant deux prix Solstice d’été pour la musique autochtone.
