On 'Made of Wood', his ninth full-length album, Oliver Koletzki embodies the seasoned craftsman, carving out his deeply personal sonic sculptures with a confident, learned hand, while experimenting with a broad range of thrilling ideas and fresh textures. Initially written in Tulum in late 2019, Koletzki completed the album in Berlin aided by numerous live musicians and vocalists, bringing his sketches to life with a focus on wooden instruments like djembes, marimbas, santoors or duduks, thus sculpting a natural sound that's warm in timbre, rich in groove and literally made of wood. 'Copal', the first of two advance EPs, captures the essence of Oliver's approach, teasing the release with its floor-focussed shaker of a title-track and the handpan-driven epic that is 'Cryptozoology'.

There’s something about the enigmatic Ali Kuru and his distinctive productions, and we are excited to have him back on MoBlack Records once again. His revival of the legendary Mansour Seck’s 1994 masterpiece, ‘Quinze Ans’ is the perennial summer anthem we’ve long been looking for, just in time for our much deserved homecoming to dancefloor bliss. ‘Son Mansour,’ a remake powered by the remarkable Senegalese singer/musician’s invigorating vocal prowess, is a byproduct of the DJ/Producer’s intuition, dancefloor acumen and a signature touch that has uplifted dancers far and wide. As expected of the Turkish artist, this 5:44 minute journey is pleasingly climactic, swerving ethnic instrumentation, elegant electronic tweaks with penetrating riffs and lush percussion, grooving on mesmerizing bass lines while keeping Mansour Seck’s lustrous essence intact and flourishing. ‘Son Monsour’ is dreamy and exotic, driving and deep, a magical dance gently unfurling, sublime against the sun setting, or rising.

Imagine youre hit by a freight train and at the very same moment youre tickled with a feather. Thats exactly how the groove of Dole & Kom feels like, and the track Phara Oh is another prime example. Bouncy beats and booming bass proclaim an unmistakable message: Its all about the dance floor! A melodic torrent accumulates with each and every bar before it finally erupts and cascades through the arrangement in shiny streams. Then exotic singing starts and the track takes off, leaving the grey world of everyday life a thousand miles behind. The Remix by The Glitz is just as compelling, yet completely different: Based on an extremely heavyweight bass line their version merges the organic warmth of the original into explosive Funk. Away is the name of the second strike on this record, and it is just as uncompromising in terms of push and pressure.
