Groove is at the heart of Pace (pa-chay) Barrett’s playing. This fact has made him one of New York’s first call players. Equally comfortable in the studio and on the stage, he has played electric and acoustic guitar on many of NYC’s best stages.

Born in Philly, guitarist and composer Pace Barrett spent the early part of his life moving with his family. He had a desire to play that showed at a very early age. By the age of five, he was playing drums, and by seven piano and classical violin

When asked how he got started in music Pace states that “music started in me”. His earliest memories are of plunking out melodies on his family’s worn out piano or beating out rhythms on chairs. His first set of drums was purchased after his parents realized that a used drum set was cheaper than new chairs.  By the time he was in his teens he traded in his violin and was playing bass, guitar, piano and beginning to write songs.

Already a Berklee College of Music alumni, Pace next received a scholarship to study at Kripalu, in Lenox MA. Here he met an older fellow traveler who had a measure of success in the music industry, but had become disillusioned with the direction in which he saw his career going. The two became instant friends. Pace spent the next sixty days listening to stories and absorbing musical concepts. It was his new mentor that gave him his first acoustic guitar, and even more importantly, the conceptual foundation that would shape his sound for years to come.

The next experience would prompt him to start his own group. While in rehearsal with Abbey Lincoln, she pulled him aside and told him that he "was jazz, past and present and future" and that he "had all that [he] needed to be great, [he] just had to let it out."

The name's Irvin, but I go as Authentic Phantom when on the mic. I started writing poetry at the end of 2011 as a result of some intense pressures and stresses. Soon afterward, I began to research instrumental music and had the great idea of recording a song one day --illusioned by my rap music interests. So I began to experiment on this task with whatever spare time I could make. Turns out, I really enjoyed it, and found it a great way for self expression. I was given the opportunity to do what I wanted when I met ERA (Erasmo Cisneros), the Audio Technology Instructor at my high school. He helped me record and edit my sounds whenever I had the need to do so. Since then I have recorded and produced two albums: "Phenomenon" and "Intervention." The first album that I put out was really a product of experimentation with the thoughts I had at the moment. Right after its release, my parents discovered that I was chiefing and became disillusioned in me. This brought a wave of thoughts too large to contain. This is when I stated on my next album, Intervention, which basically makes up my life story at that crucial moment. And most recently, I finished my following release, titled for what it is, "Mix Tape." Its release is scheduled to be in February, 2013. It will consist of present single releases and several future ones that will be added on afterward.

Nine Invisibles were formed in 1995 from the ashes of Ship of Fools. Disillusioned by the post Hawkwind/pre Criminal Justice Act of the latter, Mick Reed founder member, drummer and major songwriter of the band, decided to team up with Nigel Goodwin (deep dub guru) to develop a new sonic vehicle of exploration. With the help of various musicians from the Leeds area - including Pat Fulgoni of trip-hop, funk act Kava Kava - the duo constructed a deep dub world music, trance/techno crossover that they patented as 'Tribernetics' and immediately made plans to experiment on the general population. An initial experiment at the 'Que' Club in Birmingham impressed Leftfield's Paul Daley, while other gigs have had the audiences lifted into the spirit realms with a music that has been described as 'ambi-cultural-tribal-trance' and 'deep-dubbed-trance-endentalism'. .. Pureheadspace was released in 1997, receiving rave reviews throughout Europe, and the bands live appearances continued to receive rapturous approval. With the release of their new album 'Soundbombing' in early 2000, the band are set to become a major act on the trance/dance underground.

Woody Aki was (and sometimes is) a music journalist, historian, DJ, producer, artiste or a bass player with various bands of wildly diverse genres. Born in Melbourne, Australia, and raised in Malta, he started playing bass at age 15, gradually carving up a reputation as one of the island’s most atypical-sounding bass players in stints with local Punk, Pop-Rock, Reggae and Alternative Rock bands. A small but life-changing role with Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub on the sessions of 1993 best-selling album “Boaphenia” set him off with a stronger conviction to spread his wide musical influences over a large canvas coloured by 1970’s Dub Reggae, Punk, Disco, New Wave and beyond. In a pre-internet world, it earned him the nickname “The Walking Musical Encyclopaedia”!

Decamping to Frankfurt and Berlin on an on/off basis between 1994-1996 convinced Woody to materialise his undying obsession with all the forms of electronic music that ruled the home stereos and underground discotheques of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. He fused that with the House sensibilities of the 90’s together with side orders of Jazz, Funk and melodic yet intelligent Techno, forming the duo Bound By Sound together with Konrad Griscti (a.k.a. Gingi) back in Malta. By the time they disbanded 2 years later, Woody had honed his DJ skills whilst coming out with a slew of solo productions and collaborative remixes on his own as well with close friend and musical soulmate Owen Jay. Those releases brought him back to Berlin in 2004, and his appearances at various venues such as Delicious Doughnuts, Schoenwetter and Café Moskau followed, earning him the admiration of Modeselektor (BPitch Control), Sven Dohse (Greenman/Shtone Music), and the late co-founder of the Love Parade himself, Ralf Regitz, who became a mentor of sorts as well as a close friend. 

Now based in London after three years in York and 5 and a half years in Cambridge, Woody periodically releases the odd electronic track, releasing his first solo track on an EP together with Demarkus Lewis on the Batti Batti label back in 2010. Bookings are few and far nowadays, but he still posts uncompromising mixes full of Italo Disco, various variations of the alternative House spectrum, 1970’s/1980’s Mutant Disco, electronic classics from the last 30 years, old school Hi-NRG from the Gay clubs of yore and a selection of tight, emotional Electro and Techno from times past and present for like-minded left-wing electronic aficionados disillusioned by the sludge of mainstream Dance ‘culture’ - a colourful versatility that over the last 25 years earned him a cult respect all across Europe that very few individuals – famous, successful, both or not – can match.
