Veterans for Peace is moving in our resistance to trump, nuclear armament, the military-industrial complex, injustice, and more as we are led and inspired by these three leaders.  We have clips.  First, from Gerry Condon, as he spoke and represented Veterans for Peace at a Green Party Webinar.  Then Josh Shurley, Vice President of VFP, talks about action to steer the public away from neo-liberal chaos that got us into this mess.  Then our new Executive Director, Michael McPhearson, is back, and he provides a vision for how VFP can move forward in these challenging times using his experience as a marginalized person, because Veterans are now part of the marginalized (along with so many others). Brian Becker of the Socialist Program podcast joins us to talk about trump, the world, the right-wing threats worldwide, and the need for socialism now.   Boomers grew up in fear of this dreaded system called socialism, even though it is and has been working in the thriving countries of Europe.  Brian discusses why boomers feel this way and how to alleviate fears of a system that works for the people instead of the profiteers.  For a song, we remember that 55 years ago, four students at Kent State and two more at Jackson State were killed by our government.

Jim and Harvey reflect on Mother's Day as the US continues to be complicit in the killing of Mothers in Gaza, oh, the hypocrisy.  Then we turn to Trump's talks with Yemen, Iran, and Hamas.  Could Trump actually be putting American interests in front of Israel?  Not time for optimism yet!  We use clips from The Electronic Intifada and their crew, as well as from the Statecraft program of the Global India Today news channel with Trita Parsi.

Noura Erakat calls out the United States for its complicity in Gaza, and then pleads with the international community at the UN General Assembly to realize that while the US is an empire, the US is not the world.  Gideon Levy joins Glenn Diesen to share a gloomy assessment of the Middle East and asks what happens after the killing in Gaza stops, there is no plan.  Kyle Kulinski, in a very short clip calls out the democrats and then equates the US and Israel with Nazi Germany.  We finish with Maura O'Connell bringing Out the Guns of Love.  Good time to lock and load those guns.

Poet, Scholar, Teacher, Author, Activist, Vietnam (Purple Heart) Veteran joins us to share several poems and stories from his own collection and from a Gazan Poet.  He also shares the story of a young woman he wrote about in his article for Peace and Planet News called "A Part of You Will Die with Us."  He also reflects on Memorial Day, especially in light of our continuing support of genocide.  We finish up with John Prine.

Mike Ferner, past Executive Director of Veterans for Peace, joins the show as co-organizer of a 40-day fast to call our attention to the continual and escalating (if that is possible) atrocities perpetrated by Israel with our complicity in Gaza.  After hearing clips from Gabor Mate and Ray McGovern on why we need to do more, Mike describes how VFP, allied groups, and almost 700 people registered for the fast are doing more.  Despite health challenges and aging challenges, Mike is out there in front of the UN, in front of the US Mission to the UN, with co-organizer Phil Tottenham and other members and allies making a difference.  What are you going to do to stop genocide?

Today we have three guests: Reverend Charles Heyward, Reverend Adam Shoemaker, and activist organizer Treva Williams.  They will be talking about Everyday People (everydaypeoplefast.com), the organization they have recently launched to identify and challenge white supremacy in Charleston, S.C., and hopefully across the country.  They are advocating that we all stop spending money on Fridays to bring attention to the impact of white supremacy, not only on the marginalized but on the whole country.  They link white supremacy to Christian Nationalism and Fascism.  They link it to the genocide in Gaza, Immigration, LGBT, especially trans, and even Christianity.

After Tom Grose of Veterans for Peace updates on the ICE attacks in the Nashville area, John Steinbach of Veterans for Peace and Co-Founder of the Hiroshima Nagasaki Peace Committee of the National Capital Area joins us to discuss Iran's nuclear program and takes a deep dive into the history of Israel's nuclear program.  Tom shares heartbreaking stories of intimidation and what might be a good way to address it.  John talks about the Israeli nuclear weapons program not to deter but to threaten their neighbors and the US.  John also talks about what we need to do to address this danger.
