Jo from "sonic structures and silent stretches" asked me if i wanted to take a crack at making some music with this amazing poem.This is the result..

                           Closure
She proudly delighted in endearing innocence.
Deep in the mountain of 
timidly blue window glazings
she traded it in for knowledge.

She proudly reveled in enlightened
knowledge when the 
pleasingly golden summer winds blew
She traded it in for experience.

She proudly clad in coarse
experience. Within minds reach
of pale flight radar clicking.
She traded it in for submission.

She loathed being embraced by 
submission. In the misty haze 
of a midwinter mugging
she traded it in for control.

She employed control to project
righteousness. Next to the stalwart
vents exuding office hours.
It felt intimately close to innocence.

When Age brought Dementia
she crossed streets without looking.
she had no idea of who or when or where.
But She kept straightening her Spine.

                                          Breathing Plastics

When she left for other places
she chose a something to leave behind
For she knew the chroniclers
were not used to keep her kind in mind.

Breathing monsoons to keep living
having what the locals have
she clad in hides of extinct beauty
and left a something when she left..

He'd know what to look for 
when traveling fenced off lands.
That one something feeling all familiar
By the roadside, held in sands..

Breathing plastics wrapped in Air
filtering the local waters
sticking Hazmat suits and Wellies
He followed Late. Building her Alters.

This is Third in a series of Poems That Jo Richter has so Generously let me use. Anyone that has ever tried to write lyrics for a song, knows that good lyrics are hard to come by.  When i first read jo's poems, it was and is a cathartic experience. I hope i made a good song out of this GREAT Poem..

OLD SONG

Met the girl that Dürer drew
Spoke in dreams she did to you
Spoke of morphic co-creation
But, alas, she's no relation
Of the mage that has no clue

Took a girl to a ball on the moon
Where Milton's soul served on a dune
Had some bourbon, died of fear
Prophets wailed but dear queen Lear
Had no mercy on the loon

Venus painted on her bed
Sipped from grails of liquid lead
Do you believe, she asked, in rest
Or restauration, no man's quest
Will shroud the beauty of the dead

Was addressed on Stromboli
By a girl with eyes to see
Colours flared and clouds dispersed
On gilded shields for, oh, she nursed
Too many snakes to set one free

Found an ancient photograph
Of a girl engulfed in love

OLD SONG.........a poem written by JO RICHTER (SONIC STRUCTURES AND SILENT STRETCHES)

Jo and I teamed up on this tune. To rethink and remake it. Jo felt that this song could be taken as an Allegory for what is happening in the Ukraine and all wars. 
His lovely (Russian) Rav Vast Rhythms are meant as a poignant reminder That "Governments are the war makers."  ALL OF US are trying to survive our governments.

Jo also produced the haunting voicings and  the wonderful   water wind and birds from a natural recording.

Hawk Caught a Rabbit: Make Music not War. Featuring Jo Richter

The epic saga, ‘Land of ZED’ continues! About 1 year ago, Uziel, Stonerjazz and I started a collaborative prog rock style concept album around the concept of ‘Johnny and his Magical Squeezebox’. We’ve been having a lot of fun playing with different styles, breaking all the musical rules, and writing our own soundcloud inspired mythology. 

For the past 3 songs we’ve been working with a new collaborator, Francesca (a.k.a. Zed) who has added a cool new twist to our sound.
And on this track we’re pulling in a fifth artist who contributed an amazing set of lyrics: Jo Richter (a.k.a. Sonic Structures and Silent Stretches). Thanks for joining us!

Solstice Weather Report
 
These solstice eyes 
have learned to disagree
with the varnish and dies
of vain pleasantry

The ugly devices of self-serving goons
casting their angst ridden bases
only to float their ego-balloons
have erased all the sky's visual graces.

This Solstice skin
has learned to shy away
from the deceptively Thin
pvc overlay.

this discount-priced vortex of dime-store illusion
raises hope from the ground at it's gust front
only to soil soils with futile pollution
as it scatters it's load in the minds of those stunned.

These Solstice ears
have learned to listen in
to the grumblings of fears
in the voice therein

Bared. in the open, prone to transform
Buds turn to flower when graced by the soft rain
fears provide courage to transcend the norm
letting go and becoming are one and the same.

and exposed a magnificent Hall,
a fountain appeared in the middle, gushing crystalline clear water so sweet and so pure.
And as each traveler had their drink, they did proceed to disappear.
Johnny had a drink and then he woke up in his bed

in his state
in his country
in his world.

III.
ln ths welcomeless abode where tenants rights perpetually erode
where bills are paid by humiliation and toil.
The air is full of burning oil
Where street lights outshine the moon
And dust has more rights than me
Awoken by faint sirens in the caccaphony
Woe is me who played that accorrdion for free
I fed the starving with golden tunes and lifted up the many with melodies refined.
And hope spread golden
In keys made light
Humbled here and squandered in this wretched flight

IV.
Though in a way, this is a comfy place
And quaint.
And yet it feels like restraint that keeps me from the land of Zed
From where I wish I'd never fled.
How I long for how I yearn for rat and crow and monkey too
And even Roy who loves those blues.
And my accordion nowhere in sight occasionally late at night
Sings in the clouds and I remain within my shrouds
While smiling secretly with knowledge of a Gate

I have a postcard from Robert E. Pirisig
whom I had sent some sweet sheet music
"'taint what you do, 'tis the way that you do it"
it sits in my copy of 'Lila' whenever I grab it


sonic structures and silent stretches
A white shawl has travelled here from Tibet
with close relations; having greyed out a bit
it still shines brightly when properly lit
and I feel welcome when dreary times hit

Some first editions of poems stand proud
in my shelves; I hear them ring out
with chimes and with bells when I am about
to put pen to paper, have ink lines pour out



A simple mask from a house on a hill
reminds me of journeys deeper still
through live networks of tubular thrill
to places where vibrating colour-shapes spill

A golden ring bearing my very own name
once sat on a finger from whence it came
when we split ways, not sharing the same
perspective on trust - I was forced to reclaim


One wall is adorned with a poster of Beuys
who knew how to keep a balanced poise
when Shiva Lila creates and destroys
and the world is drowned in thunderous noise

(That's why....)
I also have a guitar in my room
to strum and sound and ride like a broom

CANTO lll By Jo Richter

What goes around: Unless familiar minds adopt
a major work of art, it cannot be recognized,
not even by the finely tuned, academic apparatus
of the scholarly persuasion. It longs to be gently
directed out of obscurity by intimate alignment.
It unequivocally needs to be claimed by readers,
by listeners, and by those who take it to their hearts
and minds. Then, only then, it comes around.

Most poets, though, feel little inclination
to join the showy, self-assertive blaze of what
the market forces call a fair. There is a disconnect within the meanings held within this term.
He remembers public events pertaining to focus on
poetry that only captured the self-congratulatory
sensations of those who spoke the welcomes and
thus abused the art to elevate themselves.

In Schlegel, in Schiller and in Borges, he tried to
find the remedy to reconcile this rift, but
neither understanding nor play nor underlaying fantasy
would overcome that star-crossed constellation
that casts a valley made of shadows between the
divergent meanings of such a simple word as fair.
If those he spoke to found beauty only in the advancement of their social fortunes, nothing could be saved.

Of course, he drifted off the course his art
demanded. He tried to quiet down the insurgent
poetry that sought expression through his puny
skills. This very nearly drove him to seek refuge
at the place ineptly called asylum which gathers all
the muted voices in wanton seclusion. Spiteful, he
wrote once again trying to outline all hope that
remained for aesthetic rigour and beauty to survive.

Eventually, he gave in and all his art served
but for one end: to represent the conundrum of
his being who he is within a stoic pattern of
existence he could not but accept. He wrote
for stones, for plants, for lakes, and for hills that
listened more intensely than his fellow men. He starved
for lack of response but refrained from complaining.
That‘s when he first came ‘round, beheld the spire.

narration: One of the greatest creative artist on soundcloud, stonerjazz soundcloud.com/user-911083679/tracks, my friend Jeff, has composed a song shock full of paranoia, existential threat and hope for redemption and salvation - a truthful portrayal of the human condition. It is a mesmerizing work of art as it stands. When I approached him concerning a possible collab for my upcoming soundcloud-only album 'songs to pacify extraterrestrials' (out by the end of November 2023), he offered this to me. I was in a fix: How can you work on something that is already perfect, complete in itself? Eventually, I decided to take a cynical approach and turn it into an intergalactic commercial for tooth --- no, fangpaste. There was a challenge in bringing about the non-music so typical for the advertising industry. Virtual midi-operated synthesizers helped. During gestation, I called those interludes and overlays PCBs, short for 'psychotic commercial break' or 'paranoid commercial breakdown'. They are of somewhat juvenile humor and also have some Douglas Adams vibes, I hope, Marvin-style. None of my recontextualization does the existential thrill (and especially the hope for liberation) of the original any justice at all - quite in the contrary. It was a morbid kind of fun to create, though ... and, to my utter astonishment, Jeff liked it and edged me on during the process. Well, here you are. It's (be)coming for you!
