This sad and devastating local story has been on my mind for a long time.... I'm reminded about this tragedy nearly everyday as I run along the Mississippi Blvd and see the memorial.

Voici une pièce que j'ai faite il y a un certain moment avec Gary Courtland-Miles (Anomon).  Il m'a demandé si je pouvais ajouter des orchestrations sur une de ses magnifiques pièces de piano.  Sur le thème de l'Amour et l'importance de sa place dans nos vies.

Here's a piece I did some time ago with Gary Courtland-Miles (Anomon).  He asked me if I could add orchestrations on one of his beautiful and heartfelt piano pieces.  This is all about Love and the importance of it in our lives.

After our first collaboration https://soundcloud.com/markjbennett/an-angel-passed-by-tom-regnier-and-mark-j-bennett-1 I was pleased when Tom https://soundcloud.com/tom-r-gnier offered me a wonderful piece (with the same title) to make into a song. He suggested that I didn't think too much about the meaning, just about the feeling. This was good advice as it almost wrote itself, based around almost rhymes of the word 'deposit'. We've been so busy this year working on our upcoming album. It was the most challenging musical project we've ever attempted before - first composing it, then working with all the session musicians and audio engineers. The album will be released on October 30th along with the music video. Today we release one of the tracks as the first single - "Behind the Mirror", this is where our journey begins! I hope you will enjoy the music along with this timelapse of the artwork being drawn by the talented Anastasia Frenkel. She is currently drawing artworks for every single track of the album - we will release it on CD with the booklet of her drawings.

I must also thank all the participating musicians: 
- Phil DiMercurio (aka PdubJamz) for his drums and percussion truly transformed the album.
- Yamaha Artist Yoed Nir for the wondrous cello.
- Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Alexa Ray for the amazing vocals.
- Producer of several Grammy-nominated artists, Matthew Shell, who supervised mixing & mastering of "Abracadabra!", Erik Fredriksen for mixing and Steven Vagovics for mastering.

And, of course, I'd like to thank my husband who was behind the whole production of the album and the upcoming music video.

"Behind The Mirror" (From "Abracadabra!") by Milana Zilnik

This track is a short improvisation and a first test of my upgraded studio. I mixed and mastered the whole track on the Tascam Model 24.
