Trois minutes pleines de légèreté dans une période totalement folle et extrêmement pesante. 
Alors que nous aspirons tous à une tranquillité et une paix durables
dans un monde qui se remets avec peine d'une pandémie meurtrière 
et éreintante, certains ont décidé de nous emmener vers encore 
plus de folie destructive. 
Une pensée très émue pour les peuples qui paient un lourd tribut 
de la démence des hommes.

Three minutes full of lightness in a totally crazy period and
extremely heavy.
As we all yearn for lasting tranquility and peace
in a world struggling to recover from a deadly pandemic
and exhausting, some have decided to take us to still
no more destructive madness.
A very moved thought for the peoples who pay a heavy price for the
dementia of men.

Morphée m'a fait

Hello. Hope you’re all relatively okay, especially now in the world. I see I am in a winter lull musically. My focus is drawn away by bitter cold weather from a recent polar vortex and also, by what is happening in the world right now. Earlier in the week, it was -22F (-30C) one night. That’s fairly cold for the end of February. With the cold, there came a fair amount of snow and strong winds. I found myself outside shoveling snow and enjoying the balmy -10 temps. As I was shoveling, I noticed 3 deer beds in the fresh snow by the aspens, a short distance from the compost pile. When I finally shoveled back to the compost pile, I saw the deer had feasted on some old garden squash I had recently composted. Apparently deer like squash. Good to know, as there is only so much squash an old man like me can eat. Last night I tossed some smaller garden carrots back there for the deer and rabbits. By the time I got back inside my beard had already frozen. Anyway, this song is my way to work through some shit about my family, and by extension the world right now. Guess I am not a happy camper at the moment. For the most part all of the lyrics are ‘true’, but they are also painted by a Zeitgeist of how I saw things go down. The song is also a vehicle of catharsis, as I work to render out the last vestiges of resentment I may still have toward all this happy horseshit. (I laughed while recording this.) I can only hope the world finds its sanity, as I have given up hope for my family ever finding theirs… Thank you for dropping by. I close my POTENCIAL BIÓTICO album with this contemporary revival of a philosophical song I wrote 19 years ago when my grandpa died.

Could describe it as a requiem for guitar quartet, 2 voices, rhythmic base & church bell (you may know the piano version at https://soundcloud.com/esemanolain-ruizzo/sets/piano-sessions-2012 album).

A mostly slow piece with lotta soul and no artistic ambition (but a little ‘Pros&Cons’ air to the end ;).

A descent into the unknown is always a slow one.

Intermezzo

Firstly on easy listening 6/4 bars, I cut some notes out of the main theme so as to give it dynamism, and finally obtained a prime amalgam of 17 quarter notes. I hid any recognizable thing in the accompaniment, and for the organic lines (voice and guitars) I tried the strong rhythm would not fix too much the melodies, first paying a lot of attention, and finally ... just letting me go.

It sure seems there's always malice in the palace. Either you’re in the palace causing malice or you’re trying to stop the malice. In both cases there's still malice in the palace. As subjects, we have to live with that malice, so get out and vote. And if voting doesn’t make a difference, get out there and storm the palace, but only for a cause I believe in, lol. 

I love roots reggae and am stuck in the period between '68 and '82. Don’t get me wrong, ska is great, and I lump rocksteady into my preferred period of reggae. And I am not saying I don’t appreciate later periods of reggae and dancehall. I did enjoy the 90s dancehall that often went along with golden era hip hop. But I will always like 70s roots reggae best. I must be old.
