In the fragmented dreamscape of America, Townes Van Zandt emerges as a spectral figure, a troubadour wandering the wastelands of his own mind. I got the idea for this after hearing a friend of mine describe what it was like to be in the jungles of Vietnam in the dark. Nothing but moonlight and flashlights to keep them going and guide their way. I got scared, just listening to the story and this is what I wrote as a result.
