Derrick  Brown a.k.a Cartiaye was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. Growing up in a busy household he used music as his escape route. As young as 8 years old Derrick began studying all music genres with a focus on hip hop and rap. He wrote his thoughts and experiences down as ryhmes for years but it wasn't until years later that he followed his intuition and began recording his written material. As a natural born intellectual Derrick began to shock his listeners with his quick wit and sometime story telling rap style. The driven rapper has a  goal which is to have the world listening, relating,  laughing and dancing while connecting to his lyrics. It's worth it to take a listen to an artist that can get you in the mood, lift you up when your down,  and make you dance out and shout . Take a listen to the music, it'll be an experience you won't regret.


What started off as a hardcore Funk/Thrash/Reggae band in 1981-82 Oakland,Ca. simply phased out due to growing pains (all members were in the 10th grade). Anthony Bryant a.k.a. Dave Id K-OS pushed on and took
his Funk, Rock, Reggae and Hardcore influences to the turntables. After getting hired at a local record store in 1984, K-OS unleashed his style of mixes and scratches with hip-hop beats cut over his musical influences, which
included: Parliament/Funkadelic, Jimi Hendrix, Sly & the Family Stone, Black Flag, Flipper, and Killing Joke.

The year was 1985, Hip-Hop was in it's infant stage and samplers weren't even popular, George Clinton discovers K-OS mixing P-Funk records at his job. In the Spring of 1986, K-OS was featured on Clinton's
"R&B Skeletons In The Closet" LP which also featured Vanessa L. Williams' vocal performance on "Hey, Good Lookin'". Always the pioneer, Clinton foreseen what was to become the next big thing in music, Scratchin' and Samplin'. As part of the Mix-Master project, Clinton released a series of 12 inch singles labeled as Scratch Pads in order for DJ'S to do their "Thang" with.

By 1987, sampling became dominant, drum machines were putting drummers in the unenjoyment line, Punk Rock became 'Alternative music'. K-OS was introduced to DJ Ricky Vincent (History of Funk's Uhuru
Maggot), and DJ Illenstein. Joining Rick's DJ squad giving P-Funk parties around town in addition to spinning at the Berkeley Square as opening acts for headliners such as Primus, Limbomaniacs, Smoking Section and
Fungo Mungo.

Hip-Hop was bubbling on the West Coast and DavId K-OS along with EmCee Quick (Naru Kwina) were starting to make some noise. Digital Underground was starting to make some noise too, Then Rickey introduced Quick & K-OS to Shock G. D U wasn't afraid to sample the 'P-Funk' and K-OS had plenty of it and started work with their pre-production crew for the Humpty Dance. The song became a rap anthem, the group blew up very rapidly and the rest is history.

After this explosion of Hip-Hop and Funk fused together, the Original K-OS went back to George Clinton & P-Funk in the fall of 1989 merging the Funk with Hip-Hop in various ways. Uncle Jam (Clinton) then arms General K-OS with an arsenal of FUNK from then, on to this day.

1991: K-OS becomes an underground legend in his own right, occasionally resurfacing to work with longtime P-Funk percussionist Muruga Booker, James Gurley (Big Brother and The Holding Company),
and Buzzy Linhart .

May of 2001: K-OS performes with Buzzy Linhart and The Big Few with Leon Hendrix (Jimi's brother) on guitar at Eric Burdon's 60th Birthday Party
at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, Ca.

2002: saw the merger of Spoken Word/Hip-Hop and Funk with a 5 song E.P. by his short lived duo, Isolated Compound.

2003 - 2005: K-OS joined forces with Bay Area Funk band ZootZilla. Playing rhythm guitar, live sampler, drums and turntables. Landing an opening act spot for George Clinton and The P-Funk All-Stars at Studio Z in San
Francisco May 11th, 2004.

2005-2012: K-OS is the DJ for P-Funk All-Star RonKat Spearman in his band, RonKat Spearman's Katdelic.

2006 to present: K-OS starts a residency at John Lee Hooker's Boom Boom Room, opening for an endless amount of bands such as, The Monophonics, Wil Blades Trio, Benny D and SpyBoy, Con Brio and Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds to name a few.

2012: the Original K-OS can be seen and heard around the Bay Area, Funkin' around with various Muggz at various clubs & studios. Joins forces again with PTFI and Bay Area Funk phenom ZootZilla for a spot at the 2012 Long Beach Funk Festival.

2013: Who knows. You may just get a long awaited CD/album from this guy.

You may be wondering what the heck is a beatnik. Well let me be clear. I am not a beat maker in any sense of the word. In my mind though I can make Dr.Dre look like a rookie again that’s in my mind. Some years back my old Jewish grandmother/neighbor use to always say "ahhhhh gary you're such a beatnik". I had no clue what she meant but I liked it. After some research I discovered she was right. Kinda. I was not beating on drums and wearing those funny looking hats, but I was unorthodox in my beliefs and bucked the system at any given moment. I lost a lot of jobs because of this as well.
Anyway the part I like about the definition was the unorthodox ways they thought. They went against the system not because it was cool, but because they really believed that it was flawed and full of crap. So with me I feel and have always felt that way about religion. I never thought it made sense for me to take my hat off in church but the lady in front of me could wear a satellite blocking my view of the entire pulpit.
So I coined myself a beatnik and added the G because it sounded cool. 
I was born in Memphis, raised in California and came to the great city of Atlanta in 1993. Atlanta was a gift and a curse for me. Coming from the west coast and moving to the south was a culture shock to say the least to me. I could understand what those people was talking about ex: eleven they would say "lem" I would say what's up homie, they would say "wassup shawty" the whole world was just weird to me. 
As I grew older I started to embrace the thuggish side of the city. After all my mom moved us from a fairy middle class area to the hood so I had to adapt or be the weird kid. I started drinking and hanging with some people of questionable character to say the least. I learned how to sell dope and even had a super awesome pager.
Life in Atlanta was awesome. I even found a church to go to and loved the teen ministry. It was just like high school (which at times wasn’t a good thing). 
Through my adult years I started to drink heavy and eventually became a alcoholic. I kept a job. Never got a DUI and thought it was normal to grab a beer at 7 in the morning, I got married, I got divorced, I was sleeping from couch to couch with my son because I didn’t have a job or a car. Life wasn’t what I planned at all. My kids would see me passed out on the couch on the weekends they came to visit and eventually my son ended up living with my mother because I couldn’t take care of him. My daughter stayed with her mom and I was all alone. Honestly I didn’t mind it. Now I can drink in peace and not feel guilty having a drunk conversation with my 5 year old.
Lets fast forward to who I am now though, This bio can turn into book real quick. 
On April 19th 2015 I decided I needed to go to rehab. At the time my son was 13, my daughter was 9 and on top of that I had a new born whom I was a at home (drunk) dad to. I also was in a relationship with her mother who had two wonderful boys. So change was necessary. After spending 4 months in California I came back to Atlanta a sober man. Yet I still had nothing to do. Being sober wasn’t enough, I sat at home bored out my mind. So I thought, Why not go back to church. And that’s where this whole journey began. I am a different man now, A better father, a better person. I have over a year sobriety and wouldn’t change it for the world. Now if I could make beats like Dr.Dre that would be awesome. Now I am a youth pastor at my church, motivational speaker, Blogger, and co host a radio show on Saturday nights. Life is good for this BeatNik

This is a quick summary of what's happening with doing that. It is a shock to the system how top hands can handle a tangled event like this. It is highly complex at times. I'm a bit late to the party. That is the biggest dilemma that adolescents have with an assignment. I, incorrectly, have to be obliged to find out in connection with doing this. How can one be allowed to say what I mean when that clarifies mysteries with it so well? This has a diehard customer base. I can say for certain that this will make a large difference.

Flash Jenkins and Michael ‘Dex’ Brown are both Hamilton, Ontario born and raised and have been friends since the age of six. While other kids were playing hopscotch in the schoolyard, Flash and Dex were imagining themselves as a rap group. The nascent duo’s shared love of music would lead them to join the school band, before they combined for a winning performance of Run DMC’s ‘Walk This Way’ at the school talent show. The two friends then founded The Phorce in 2005.

Flash, who handles the majority of the MC’ing duties was given his name by his peers for his speed on the court, and quick wit in cyphers. His style has evolved over the years, from his work with The Northstarz and One Route Crew in the early ‘00’s to his cameo on the Dex produced Hamilton posse cut, ‘Steel City, Stand Up!’ which showcased his complex word play, unique writing style, and passion on the microphone.

Producer/MC Dex found himself in great demand in 2010, producing tracks for a variety of hip hop acts such as Canadian Winter, Eklipz from Crown A Thornz and singer Queen Cee, as well as remixing indie band Cowlick’s ‘Thunder Vs. Lightning’. He is also a member of the Hamilton based Future Shock collective of producers and musicians.

The group is currently putting the finishing touches to their as yet untitled debut album, which will be entirely produced by Dex and will feature cameos from Jon Dailey and Kobi from Canadian Winter.

With their first single, ‘She’s Bad’ b/w 'Back To The Future', The Phorce, will be sure to catch the attention of music lovers everywhere ,while living up to the group’s mission statement, which as Dex puts it - “is to join the movement that brings balance back to that ‘Good music’ sound, and make it sound like it never left”.

DOM LEIGH:

Dom has had a strong passion for music from a young age, at the age of 7 he started guitar lessons but found learning from someone else wasn't for him and moved to teaching himself from the age of 10. At 18 he began touring the UK and Europe in a band to sold out venues, he always knew music was for him but being in a band was not fulfilling what he wanted to achieve and he felt unable to push creative boundaries in the ways that he wanted. It wasn't until 2012 when he experienced his first dance festival that the missing piece to the puzzle he was looking for was found. He then stepped away from the band scene and started producing his own Electronic Music. Since then he has gone on to develop his music in a different way and shock people with the amount of ground he has covered in such a short space of time. The only way for Dom now is the top and he has all the motivation and dedication to get him there. Watch out for Dom Leigh.

At only 20 years of age, Ben has developed a diverse skill set in a very short space of time and astonishes crowds with his performances.
After an endless run of successful gigs and residencies across the country, Ben has really established himself as a professional DJ.
With a mature head, personally and musically, he has the ability to adjust to any crowd of any age. He has big plans for a future in the industry and this is a name to look out for in the future.
