Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colorful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental groovy vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before.

We were afraid the city would break. As the times became more turbulent with secret meetings and violent outbursts, we watched the crack in our world widen. It was only a matter of time, we thought, before it would tear into two. One night, as we despaired, we saw a figure walking in the moonlight. Bent and old, he glowed like a lit lantern. When we saw he was carrying a large book and a small sack, we knew instantly it was the Old Man of the Moon and called him over. “Please help us,” we begged him, “we need to keep the city together.” The Old Man of the Moon looked at us, our outstretched cracking globe and our pleading faces. Without a word, he sat down before us and opened his book, leafing through the pages and stroking his beard. After several minutes of consulting his book, he opened his sack and handed us a red thread. “You are to hold this until it is needed,” the Old Man told us, and then slapped his book shut and walked away, ignoring our words of thanks. Degman is a man of wisdom and pure thoughts. This is his first offering for Shango Records. These two tracks are made with love in the garden of Earthly Delights. Chris Goa, Hoani Teano and Oduki are the keyholders for the land of dreams.

We met @Steffenkirchhoff in March this year, when he came to play during our first Shamanic Love event. He opened the night with a cacao ceremony and it turned out to be one of the most intense and most beautiful moments that we have had here in Amsterdam this year. Since then we have been in regular contact, he performed at the final stage of our Love Caravan in Berlin in June and is working currently on a track for our new social music label @hugrecords. So enjoy this lovely recording of one of his past live performances and make sure to check Steffen out during one of his many festival gigs this summer, it is an experience we can truly recommend.  We are thankful that we have met and look forward to many more beautiful moments together!
