What I can confidently tell you about these folk is that I’ve grown fond of nearly everyone I’ve encountered.

For example, I had the great fortune to have met Martin, an older gentleman, whose visit to San Francisco and to Laguna Beach had given him a favourable impression of California, but understandably, from his benign expression, he’d tacitly revealed that he’d never choose to live elsewhere…

… I met his friend, a retired fireman sitting beside Martin (whose name sounded like Martin only I couldn’t pronounce it in Irish as he had) and who had reminded me to be grateful for all of the EMTs who had transported persons with mental illnesses…

Both gentlemen had little fondness of having worked their lives in and around Dublin.

The two gentlemen had rightfully predicted that, in contrast to Dublin, I’d be more pleased seeing Ireland’s rural areas — 

— to validate their viewpoints, when they’d asked me (as everyone else has about my curiousity to see Ireland, they may have found it quirky though not in their own language) that I had a keen interest in seeing plants and animals from afar— 

— they had expressed a liking of my photographs of birds and trees which I’d shown them, and they had helpfully told me the names of those birds. 

Martin and a gentleman whose name had sounded like “Martin” had also predicted that I’d prefer rural Ireland to Limerick (my present whereabouts).

But to be fair, I’m really exhausted.

And, while writing about this unusual happenstance, I am honestly homesick and now travel weary.
