Gurr is a Garage Rock Band from Berlin, Germany. Band members are Andreya Casablanca (Vocals, Guitar) and Laura Lee Jenkins (Drums, Backing Vocals, Guitar). They were founded in 2012 and have recorded all their songs using a four-track tape recorder, locked in a room deep in the north of Germany. Helping hands were their friend Sgt. Wolf Finger, a lot of wine and this mummified frog you can see on the picture.

All songs are about Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shania Twain, being tired and getting up on Mondays - all typical themes of teenage angst.

Danish four-piece Communions have announced details of a new EP. Communions will be released on Tough Love Records on Monday 1st June. There will be two vinyl pressings - one on black vinyl, the other on blue available only from the Tough Love store.

The EP is the second release on Tough Love Records, following the release of AA-side single So Long Sun/Love Stands Still at the end of 2014. Communions, made up of brothers Martin and Mads Rehof, Jacob van Deurs Formann and Frederik Lind Köppen, are fast-gaining attention for their transcendent melodies, delicate guitar lines and emotive pop songs about naivety and youth.

N is the moniker of Dortmund-based German experimental guitarist Hellmut Neidhardt. In line with the release of his collaboration record with SANKT OTTEN - Männerfreundschaften und Metaphysik - September 2015 sees the release of two further N-related records.

The first one is his latest solo record - N(43) - „Anklam“ -, featuring the three tracks „Daemmerung“, „Restlicht“ and „Requiem“. It is a album Neidhardt somehow knew to be located in the dark fields of blinding error and its consequences, thus anything there might be a bit ambiguous in its meanings. From deeply melancholic, coarse-grained waves of sound, buried under tons of beside-noises to the last rearing of the sound of the sun before falling into the sea. And then you are still there, time has stopped, all has stopped. Exept the endless hovering of the requiem. „Anklam“ is once again a direct-two-track recording without any cut and paste, with Neidhardt just using his guitar / FX / amp setup - regardless how it may sound.

The second new record is N(49) „Birka“, a collaboration with SIMULACRA from Belgium. This is probably the one of N's collaborations that took the longest time to make so far and Neidhardt is happy to take part of the blame for that: Simulacra is known for his very deep, void-like sound aesthetic, with deeply breathing synth sounds without any artifacts around. For this reason it was very difficult for the two collaborators to figure out a corporate sound; they only knew they found this after it had happend at last... Well and from this moment, it was quite easy. Expect a very dark album, with a lot of bass, with N's guitar sometimes emerging from the depth of Simulacra's soundwalls, sometimes working as something like a driving force from underneath; slowly shifting frequencies through endless caverns, reverberating from the black walls. "This record is soo dark, we love it... (and thus are really happy we made it in the end...)." states Neidhardt.

The Tragedy of S.T.

Von einer Welle in die Tiefen des Meeres fortgerissen, umspielen uns Voodoo Beach mit düsterem Psychedelic Rock, der einerseits tief in den 1970s verwurzelt ist und andererseits voll im Hier und Jetzt steht. Voodoo Beach’s Debüt-EP OZEAN ist keine Übung in Genre- und Szenemusik, sondern dezidiert modern und das Ergebnis einer Verschiebung im Bandgefüge: Josephine O (Drums) und Jon van Mono (Bass) erobern einen neuen Minimalismus, bieten eine dominantere Präsenz und mehr Orientierung an, Ignacy San (Gitarre) verdichtet seine vormals ausufernden Klangkaskaden zu prägnanten Linien, während Verita Vi (Gesang, Gitarre) erstmalig auf Deutsch singt: “Alles was du sagst, führt mich in den Wahn.” - “Ich wollte das schon seit einer Weile ausprobieren", gibt Verita Vi zu Protokoll, “brauchte aber etwas Zeit, um meine comfort zone zu verlassen. “Wahn” ist der erste Song, wo alles passte – der Bass und das Schlagzeug erinnerten mich an deutschen Post Punk aus den 80ern.”
Folgerichtig beginnt OZEAN mit “Wahn”, dem Neuanfang. Und ansonsten gilt: „Keiner weiß, wer ich morgen bin“, wie es in “Keiner weiß” heißt und genau auf den Punkt bringt, was die Band im Kern ausmacht: Eine für das Genre untypische stilistische Offenheit, eine Transzendenz der Klangebenen, eine Wucht, die sich auch dann noch vermittelt, wenn die Band sich traut, so zart und angreifbar zu sein wie nie zuvor.
Nach Konzerten mit Odd Couple, Sun & The Wolf, The Underground Youth und Elephant Stone (CA) sowie diversen Festivalauftritten in und um Berlin (u.a. Jenseits von Millionen Festival und Reverberation Fest), veröffentlichten Voodoo Beach ihre ersten Demos und Singles, gefolgt von Touren in Deutschland, Polen und Tschechien. OZEAN wurde im Winter 2017/2018 mit Mischkah Wilke im Kozmic Sound Studio Berlin komplett analog auf Band aufgenommen und gemischt und von Arne Ziemann von Oakfield Mastering gemastert. Am 26.10.2018 erscheint OZEAN auf Kassette und digital bei Späti Palace / Morr Music.
