In 2021, my life changed when I was diagnosed with epilepsy. My first seizure happened while I was driving home after a long day working Lyft. I had just exited the main highway when, within minutes, everything went black. I woke up in the hospital with my wife by my side. She told me I had a seizure, that my car was totaled, and I had run into a pole. EMTs had to rescue me from the wreck and bring me to the hospital. I was completely disoriented, unable to piece together what had happened—or why.

At first, I tried to act like it was nothing, but the seizures continued. A neurologist eventually told me that the seizures were linked to stress and depression. I had no idea I was struggling mentally. I thought I was okay, but deep down, I wasn’t.

That experience shaped me in ways I’m still processing. I wrote this song as part of my healing journey, and I waited until I was mentally and emotionally ready to release it. Today, I’m grateful to say I’ve been seizure-free.

This song is a testament to the fact that life is fragile, but also beautiful. None of us are promised tomorrow, and we all face challenges that seem insurmountable at times. But healing is possible, and things can get better.

I hope this message resonates with you and brings you peace, just as it continues to bring healing to me.

“Requiem for a Flawed Capitalism” is a ciphered indictment — a funeral verse for a system that promised freedom but delivered exhaustion. It’s not just a critique of capitalism’s excesses; it’s a requiem because the damage is already done, and the mourning is overdue.
Here’s the architecture behind the lyric:
Conceptual Spine is based on W.E Du Bois’s warning — “The slave went free; stood a brief moment in the sun…” — becomes the opening wound.
That “moment” is reframed as a false dawn, where emancipation mutated into wage servitude, and the plantation became the platform.
Central Metaphor: The Spin Cycle
Old stains: slavery, colonialism, racial capitalism
New detergents: democracy, meritocracy, “equal opportunity”
Fresh cycles: gig economy, debt peonage, algorithmic bias
Fabric softener: diversity optics, corporate inclusion, sanitized history The metaphor exposes how exploitation is rebranded, not removed — the drum keeps spinning, and we tumble again.

Urban decay, discarded tech, fog-drenched skylines — the imagery reflects a world where capital has outlived its conscience.
The lyric doesn’t beg for reform — it architects rupture, naming the mechanisms and refusing the soft lies.
