It was first broadcast in the Midday Prom by the BBC Northern Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Bryden Thomson, on BBC Radio 3, Friday 20 November 1970.
Further broadcasts included Radio 3, Tuesday 10 October 1972, conducted by Kenneth Alwyn. The Composer also conducted Chorale For Strings for BBC broacasts during the 1980s.
