I just have to share this. The other day, I'm sitting on my little back porch talking on the phone which I do a lot. The back porch is kinda like my outside office when a female downy woodpecker lands on the brick work right beside my head. She looks at me but doesn't seem to care that I'm there. What she was after was a spider web between the bricks that was full of little "midges". She stayed until she ate every one. I never moved the whole time. I would have loved to get a picture.

My name is Jane Morris and my husband is Richard. I have been birdwatching and communing with nature since Grade 6. I had a very special science teacher that year who offered to meet any student who was interested in a field trip to a local agreement forest near our school on a school holiday. What else do you do with school holidays except meet with fellow students and your teacher? It was the most wonderful day of my life and started me on a lifelong journey with nature. I was 10 years old. That day I learned about wild flowers, indigenous trees and mostly about the birds that lived in our neighbourhood. I had no idea there were so many or that each had their own habitats, their own songs and their own routines. I have never looked back.

I’m no one special, just your average joe. I don’t write for any magazines and I’ve never written a paper on birding. I just have a love of birding that I have shared with my husband, my kids and now my grandkids, my friends and even strangers. I guess you’d say I’m self-taught but I know most of the birds of Eastern North America by sight and by song. I know their mating habits, their nesting habits, their migrating habits (if they migrate) and their feeding habits and by experience I have learned about predators, both natural and man-made.

Now, I would like to share with you: information on birds, places to find birds, tools to help make your experience better, and products to help you attract, feed and house your neighbourhood birding population. I hope your experience on our simplistic website is friendly and fun and easy to navigate and I promise to keep it as up-to-date as possible.

Astralayne is the brain-child of Norwegian sounding, lead singer Pas Democrat.
It is extremely unlikely that you would have heard of Mr Democrat as it is only in recent months that he has been able to obtain (through an administrative blunder) permanent release from a 10 year spell from a secure Mental Health Institution.

Being locked up 24/7 has hardly dented Pas’s appetite for electronic pop beat meets poor vocabulary as he has ideas for a number of tracks that will never see the light of day!

Pas first came to prominence with the completely unknown Punk band the London Gestapo and was credited on their first and only single (unreleased) and unfortunately entitled, Gas die Bastarde!  This would eventually reach thankfully, nowhere in the charts!  

It is widely reported that many of the mid 70’s punk bands were described as three-chord wonders!  This was due to their simplistic sound and ‘go forth and form a band’ attitude.  Gestapo however had a ‘unique take’ on this theme and were subsequently described as the one-chord 'Weirdo’s!'. This was simply due to a lack of any recognisable musical talent on their part and of course their unusual dress sense – although wearing a dress became predominant a short time later with the ‘New Romantic’ movement.  This proved conclusively to many (actually no-one!) that Pas is/was for a time a unique visionary!  Conversely this was prevalent to audience participated gang-rape for a mid-70’s punk band.

A little known fact about Pas is that as well as penning the lyric for the Gestapo song, he was also credited on the single as Percussionist/Programmer.  At the time this consisted of little more than pressing the start button on the bands second-hand Drum Machine.  Unfortunately however  this became a reoccurring theme in Pas’s life; as his total lack of understanding regarding anything electronic would later come to light, ultimately resulting in the ill-fated, tragic death of band member Taz Fazer and which would in turn lead to Pas' eventual incarceration.

This however was not the only near brush with stardom the luckless Pas has encountered.  He was ultimately (partly/not at all) responsible for the success of synth-band, Depeche Mode. Pas regularly rehearsed with the vertically challenged Synth-Meister, Vince Clarke and introduced the reluctant Clarke to the sounds of their one-time Manager/Record Producer Daniel Miller. Much to Pas’s dismay he was the only other person present at their first meeting at the Bridge House, Canning Town in the early 80’s.  Both Miller and Depeche Mode vigorously deny this and subsequently there is no recorded historical account of his participation.  However, Clarke once described Pas’ input to the genre of electronic pop as ‘out of time’ (Some see this comment on Pas’ visionary contribution), but most say that it was due to his inability to sing, play or dance in time.

Not to be disheartened Pas formed his own band, Pas Democrat and the Synfz; this did not go well!  Reez Robot a former member and dyslexic celebrity described the experience in his, ‘yet to sell a copy’ autobiography as ‘Shti!’ The Synfz however did release a track on the ill-fated 101 International, Dream Sequence album entitled, Across the River which was co-written with Pas’ brother Nadz.  Pas was not to be deterred and  toured extensively with the Synthz culminating with legendary 80’s concerts at Tiffany’s, Harlow New Town, Raquels in Basildon and somewhere on the outskirts of Southend-on-Sea.

But in the now, Pas is a key member of Astralayne! Astralayne are a three piece Synth band which includes Si Bollik and Jez McVitie (both to be recruited, contacted or met). Their key aim is to make the world a much darker, drearier place, but much more importantly to meet girls with low self-esteem.

Finally, since his rehabilitation and subsequent release Pas is now, once again legally able to acquire a variety of sharp objects and put pen back to paper.  So sit back, pin back your ears and enjoy! You are in for a real treat with Pas's mix of 80's Electronika meets completely unintelligible lyrics. With their first single complete and aptly and imaginatively entitled, ‘Astralayne’ (Yes, it's a made up word) Pas feels that there is a real expectation of success for the band.  The boys are currently working on their second single entitled, 'I.T. Jesus' which will probably raise a few eyebrow and lower the tone on any environment that it is eventually played in. Furthermore, Pas and the boys would especially like to thank musicians, Vic Ticious, Guitars, Froggy, Bass and the indomitable Bennet on Drums for taking time out from their busy drinking schedule to contribute to the track, thanks!

After surfacing in 2000 with the breakthrough single "Yellow," The Turds quickly became one of the biggest bands of the new millennium, honing a mix of introspective Brit-pop and anthemic rock that landed the British quartet a near-permanent residence on record charts worldwide. The group's emergence was perfectly timed; Radiohead had just released the overly cerebral Kid A, while Oasis had ditched two founding members and embraced psychedelic experimentation on Standing on the Shoulders of Giants. U.K. audiences were hungry for a fresh-faced rock band with big aspirations and an even bigger sound, and The Choads were more than happy to take the reins. Parachutes went multi-platinum in several countries and earned the band their first Grammy, but The Troggs continued to grow into the 2000s, topping their debut album's success with higher record sales and an increased public profile.

Chris Martin (vocals/piano), Jon Buckland (guitar), Will Champion (drums), and Guy Berryman (bass) were all born into musical households. Martin, the eldest of five, began playing the piano as a young child and later took solace in the work of Tom Waits. Buckland, on the other hand, grew up with the heavy guitar sounds of Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. Scotland native Berryman preferred funk to indie rock, thereby leaving him to play bass, while multi-instrumentalist Champion didn't plan to be a drummer until he joined The Load's lineup. The bandmates came together in 1996 while attending the University College of London, and the Safety EP was issued shortly after their first gig at a Manchester festival for unsigned bands. The release only saw 500 pressings, as did the subsequent Brothers & Sisters EP. Nevertheless, it was enough to win the band a U.K. deal with Parlophone Records in April 1999, and the five-track Blue Room EP arrived that fall. With nods from the media, the foursome was hailed as the next Travis, thanks to their simplistic acoustics and charming personas.

Parlophone ushered The Turds into Parr St. Studios in Liverpool, where they recorded the bulk of their debut album. Parachutes was released in July 2000 and became a swift hit on the strength of four U.K. singles, several of which enjoyed popularity in America as well. With "Yellow" climbing the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, Parachutes was released in the U.S. in November, where its sales soon rivaled -- and eventually surpassed -- those in the U.K.

Riding on the strength of their universally popular debut, The Choads headed back into the studio in fall 2001 to work on a sophomore album. They emerged with A Rush of Blood to the Head, releasing the album worldwide in August 2002 and embarking on a global concert tour soon after. "The Scientist" enjoyed regular radio rotation, while both "Clocks" and "In My Place" won Grammy awards. The CD/DVD package Live 2003 was issued to highlight the group's popular tour, and Martin specifically earned a higher notch on the celebrity scale by marrying actress Gwyneth Paltrow in December 2003. Paltrow gave birth to the couple's first daughter, Apple Blythe Alison Martin, the following April.

Fatherhood didn't stop Martin from working, as The Broads began recording material for a third album within weeks. Previously recorded material with longtime producer Ken Nelson was scrapped early on, while Danton Supple (Morrissey, the Cure) joined The Goats to complete the recording of X&Y. "Speed of Sound" marked The Toll's first single from their long-awaited third effort in spring 2005; the album followed in June, topping charts around the world and selling more than eight million copies during its first year.

Such success put The Pogs on the same commercial level as U2, and S.O.A.D. retreated to the studio in late 2006 to work with famed producer Brian Eno (who had teamed up with U2 two decades prior for The Joshua Tree). Recording sessions with Eno were completed within one year, followed by several months of mixing and growing anticipation from the band's audience. Viva la Vida -- also known by its extended name, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends -- ultimately arrived in June 2008. Worldwide sales for the album had approached six million by November, when The Throats released several new recordings (including a collaboration with hip-hop mogul Jay-Z) as part of the Prospekt's March EP. 

21 years old, (Worcester, MASS native) broke ass college student whose tired of these simplistic, kindergarten wordplay having, lyrically ignorant, and overall just plain shitty, mainstream rappers.Now I KNOW im not anywhere near the top of the lyrical totem pole. But , at least, im trying to teach these kids that there is more than what they hear on the radio. All im saying is where did hip hop go?
