 The sound of international espionage....music to rob banks to. The Stevedores formed under the canopy of the trust fund fueled drug/sex scene at Sarah Lawrence College in Westchester New York during the early part of the new century. They played extensively around the campus in ballrooms, bedrooms, and girls dorms before moving to larger venues in New York City. They played a series of shows at the Knitting Factory in lower Manhattan during the spring of 2006 performing as "Canfield Devil House".
In June 2006 after recording "Tamuawok." the band moved to Madison, WI under the name "The Stevedores" to begin work on their next album "The Straw That Broke The Camel's Heart". Soon after the move, lead singer Spencer Bell was diagnosed with Adrenal Cancer and passed away on December 3rd in Madison. He was 20 years old.
On February 4th, 2007,The Stevedores entered the RPM challenge to record an entire album in the month of February. They finished recording
"This Is Very Important Message* on February 25th.
The Stevedores performed regularly during the summer of 2007, playing such venues as The High Noon Saloon and the Orpheum Theatre in Wisconsin.
The band has since scattered to the four corners of the country, reconvening in July 2012 to record the songs they had left behind. This EP, "The Straw That Broke The Camel's Heart" was generously funded by fans through the Kickstarter platform and will be released in the Spring of 2013, to be followed by a short tour from Austin, TX up to Madison, WI.

Biography
Inspired by a mutual passion for music and story-telling Rohan and Geoff have created the sounds of Sunbird7. This live show will draw you into a world where the weary traveller can lose themselves in the memories of home and in the next breath be full of love and romance for the adventures that lay ahead. Their masterful melodies and stories of strength and pride will inspire passion in your heart and draw you into an emotional journey.

Sunbird7 combines the lyrical magic of Donovan and the uplifting sounds of Coldplay with a twist of driven Celtic drums and beautiful folk melodies into an endless vista of ‘cinematic folk’ which never fails to captivate their audiences.

Rohan and Geoff met in the mountains high above Queenstown, in an old slate rock miner’s cottage where they set about creating an idea and a sound of long lost travelers, love and yearning, and Aotearoa’s changing seasons above the central Otago plains. The recording made in that cottage was then released into the hot sun of Canterbury’s summer days where they played to spontaneous crowds of more than 500 people in Christchurch's majestic Cathedral Square. 

This coming together of strangers for song and dance under the canopy of summer evenings and the music of a long forgotten home inspired the birth of Sundbird7 ~ acoustic guitars, joyful and emotive voices, jungle drums on a backdrop of cinematic soundscapes let listeners live, love and find themselves more whole than when they started the journey.
