Tremulant wandering throughout deep space. Scans pulse beating lush sounds from local pulsar. Mega waves of radio interference. Scanning. Something making some serious groove here. We have detected... PLANEMO! Every episode we hop aboard our spaceship and search the galaxy to discover fresh and exciting sounds for the people of earth...

This past November the stars collided to bring together Pelehon and GriffinGrrl on the decks. The atmosphere created was truly magical as these two ladies were connected by their love for deep and luscious sounds, but had not yet shared a dance floor. This set the stage for a beautiful night of musical storytelling. The energy in the room felt too infectious not to share, and since we weren’t recording, we decided to record and release our sets together for Planemo.

For the first hour tune in to the rhythms of GriffinGrrl. GriffinGrrl has been a fiery catalyst for creative collaborations since the 90s LA rave scene. With talents spanning from DJ, radio host, club co-founder, to current residencies held with Uniting Souls and LOST, GriffinGrrls magnetic energy continues to fuel countless amazing experiences. 

The second hour is curated by Pelehon, a Tremulant resident who began weaving stories through sound 3 years ago. Pelehon enjoys layering melodies and rhythms to provide a soundtrack to get lost in… believing that through music we can express and hear what speaks beyonds words.

This mix is #1 in a suite of five completed mixes for spring/summer 2022: "Sonic Apothecary: spaceotter's Endemic Medicine Suite," an audio analogue to recent advances in psychedelic-assisted therapies. Like the physical medicines, these mixes are intended to sonically aid recovery from grief, trauma, loss, anxiety, despair. Each mix has a specific flavor; I hope one or more will speak to you. psychedelic love affair 6: the return

Sometimes you realize that it's burn day and you have WAY too much leftover meat in various coolers at somewhat questionable temperatures. So you pull the grill out to the bar, and fire her up. Other campmates bring more food, you get out the megaphone and feed the neighborhood all day. If you're lucky, your favorite dj from home (and role model camp creator)will have camped with you that year and magically have 12 hours of songs with words on them AND be in the mood to not leave the decks all day. History will be made and a favorite tradition formed. Minds blown, songs sung at the top of many lungs, and much dust kicked up by many boots.

Years later you'll want to start a soundcloud page for camp, and maybe drag your feet for a while, but along will come a mix, slaved away on throughout a pandemic, by the very dj that set the tone for that magical experience. Part of a series representing our remergence from said pandemic, and a certain psychedelic therapy that feels like a romp around the playa. So you’ll start the soundcloud and just like the Annual Impromptu Questionable Meat Bonanza, a new platform for us to express ourselves will be created under the guidance of the same dj who’s already had such an indelible impact on our culture.

Celebration, connection, reverence for life and love! This was energy I was tuning into at Burning Man 2022 and it could be felt fully in beating heart of the Dust Buckets Art Car Round Up at the Folly Builder's beautiful and immersive "Paradisium". Airpusher, Dusty Rhino, Heavy Petting Zoo, Bounce and more mutant vehicles linked up sound systems for an afternoon of dance and celebration music, community, and art in this incredible forest int he dust!

The Folly Builder's "Paradisium is a grove made out of trees, long fallen, that reminds us of the forest's beauty and our interconnectedness and interdependence with nature, while also fostering a sense of community and an investment in our shared future."

BUT WAIT,THERE'S MORE! Leading off this set (after the acapella intro) is my original track "Almost Home", the second I'm putting out there before the release of my forthcoming Cptn Jay - "Loves You EP".  I didn't make this track about coming back to Burning Man, but damn if it doesn't capture that vibe perfectly!!

This edition of the Innerflight mix series features a blast from Seattle's past, Kristina Childs. If you remember the legendary Krakt techno parties and Decibel Festival, you'll find Kristina's influence on the Seattle electronic music scene. She has relocated to Egypt for a number of years but is hitting the PNW this summer for a visit and a number of DJ appearances. The mix is a tight blend of early summer grooves touching on some tribal, afro house and tech and is just what the doctor ordered.

What do you play when you're closing down an inspiring weekend retreat celebrating 20 years of Shameless? Here you go!

Although the recording ended up with a few random pops/crackles along with an 8 second moment where a CDJ died mid mix (not sure WTF happened there?!), I decided to move past the imperfections and share this moment in time. 

I won't ever forget following John Tejada's epic 3 hour journey to close out our 20 year celebration riding into the morning together.

Recess Closing Set - Vicennial 20 Year Anniversary Retreat - Recorded Live 8-13-23

Lushpod #39 was recorded live at the Knupp Gallery in Los Angeles, and was inspired by the bohemian glass that was showcased that evening.  LP39 is based on some new year's interstellar traveling - meant to fully honor some of our favorite artists that were taken away from us in late 2016. This mix features tracks from SOHN, George Michael, Charles J, Gorje Hewek, Mousse T, Majical Cloudz, LTJ Bukem, and Four Tet.

Lushpod #39 - Little Miracles Crashing Into Oblivion

I was envisioning playing these tracks in Shambhala's infamous Living Room. This mix literally features music from some of my favorite artists and labels. The DSF track in particular is one to look out for, as it's the only one featured in this mix that is unreleased. It scorches the dance floor every time I play it and will definitely be a BIG Summer track. Needless to say, I'm looking profoundly forward to experiencing Shambhala, as BC is one of the most beautiful places to be in the Summer and I've heard nothing but praise for Shambhala.
