Exclusive: Ramu - 2049 Rain

The third ride on Magic Carpet comes from Bristol-based Ramu – maybe naming himself after a river in New Guinea, maybe after a fizzy Japanese lemonade or a small village in Bangladesh. As tempting and multifarious these options are Ramu's Magic Carpet debut musically takes the same line: it's a bit of Breakbeat, a whiff of Electro and Jungle, but it is not a mishmash or arbitrariness. It's simply music in its pure- and rawness with three different approaches to it merged in this three tracker. Three however seems to be the magic number for this release – three tracks and the third Magic Carpet ride. The B2, 2049 Rain, is – in defiance of the speculations regarding Ramu's artist name at the beginning – hinting at the eponymous track from the Blade Runner movie. Unsurprisingly 2049 Rain starts as a rather minimalistically held approach with a dark and almost dystopian yet futuristic industrial tone that in the course of time softens. The latter is reached by Ramu adding spacey deep chords and a breakbeat-sequence which is partly enriched with little scratches and HipHop-esque vocals before modulated 8-bit sounds and the beforementioned chords cohere and take this one home – to the clubs where it belongs.

Ramu's EP Ride 03 will be released later this summer on Magic Carpet.

Exclusive: Sneaker - The Flow

Uncanny Valley ends its hiatus of releases and returns to the digital and vinyl market with a new EP from Dresden-based artist Sneaker aka Dunkeltier that floods the floors with its energetic yet dark and mysterious vibes. The Flow, the name of the EP's title track, however not only marks the musical start of 2022 for Uncanny Valley but also the return of Sneaker, to the label. Basically The Flow is Sneakers' follow up EP after his 2013 release Java/ Sumatra. In-between though Sneaker contributed various tracks/ remixes to the label's anniversary releases and, as initially mentioned, captures those darker almost Melo-moments in its close to eleven minute lasting floor-flooder. Spoken vocals add an even deeper almost sexy note to the track that comes in as a revitalized track from the 90s neatly (re)designed with today's technical achievements to create a classic of the Golden 20s era. Now let there be House.

Cybotron has re-emerged in our contemporary cybercultural age when artifactual futures begin a transition into a new era of "Meta". 
 
By combining their knowledge of philosophy, science fiction, and mechanical engineering, at a time when electronic instrument companies were only just beginning to distribute their products to the masses, two prosumer audio technicians named Juan Atkins and Rik Davis were able to re-engineer Cybotron  &ndash;  a combination of the words "Cyborg" and "Cyclotron" (an atomic particle accelerator) &ndash; to be used as a home studio performance music that would change the course of independently produced and distributed electronic music.
 
Dissolving the boundary between singer, songwriter, and producer, Juan Atkins named Cybotron's future forward funkadelic sound "techno" in reference to Alvin Toffler's concept of unlikely "techno rebels" against technocracy. Techno is music that sounds like technology, and its purpose was to help society survive our collision with a universally felt "future shock" by inserting an audio virus into the cultural matrix. 
 
Techno's blueprint spread across the Detroit-Berlin Axis between Metroplex and Tresor. As human society began its transition from a post-industrial to an information-based market economy, Cybotron enabled a thorough system override of the human senses towards a tangible man-machine hybridity and showed the world how to channel their emotions and imaginations into new sound technologies and create new 'sonic' spatialities where listeners can transport themselves out of the physical world into the future. The cover of their debut album Enter (1983) transmitted a fragmented view of a body in motion being digitized mid-stride, dissolving physical and virtual reality into sonic fiction.
 
Today, the man-machine hybridity of Cybotron is still the truest form of techno, coevolving in conversation with the technological music they created and inspired. The latest data disk marks a new chapter that reflects a techgnostic musical expression of the knowledge acquired during their decades-long hiatus. Unlike the dance music industrial replications of the Model 500 formula, acknowledging the content marketing expectations that segments music into specific, sellable genres, this techno music is self-aware.
Cybotron processes dance music tropes spawned from its very own blueprint with a meta-tactical precision out of sync with our current rave new world. 

Cybotron's return demonstrates a studied engagement with what techno was and should be with a peerless update of Juan Atkins' initial inventive idea of do-it-yourself electrically reengineered music xeroxed onto both sides of the 12" &ndash; uploaded directly into the alleys of your mind.

Last year, the collective opened its own venue in a former hallal supermarket called Megadestock.

A place that embodies the collective ethos, based on solidarity, passion and support for emerging talents.

JCMM which first started back in 2005 but was sucked into the Aceeeed House scene from an early age , 1987 , before that b boy scene and electronic sounds really made an impact ....I then learnt the art of DJing from 1990 , playng at local raves run by Kickin Club , Earthquake , Spiral Tribe , Celtic Tribe....plus loads of other shindigs .......then started working in the bizz in differ areas which led onto working artists such as Martinez , Mark Dale,  Martin Brodin, PILCH . Sugarcaine, Colin Dale, Largo, Physics , Mojo Filter, DKS, Playmaker , Porno Breaks , Dalminjo , Audiojack , Drop Out Orchestra, Dumb Dan, Hertz, Alex Brinken , Mike Lennon, S.U.M.O, Trentemoller, Atle *Brother Brown"..plus many more...

Worked within Vinyl / CD Distribution back in the early 90s with various companies from the stalls of Camden Town (Horace) onto Zander Exports, Amato Distribution and then Z Audio 2006-2008.

Moved to Sweden 2002 and worked with Deeplay Music and sister labels such as Soultec and newest of the bunch MB Disco. Mainly in charge of the licensing then pressing the early releases for MB and setting up distribution for vinyl only via Rub A Dub.

Released over 70 vinyl releases via JCMM for various artists worldwide.

Came to Z Audio opening the doors to more House , Techno sounds as Export Manager and setting up labels such as SIC Recordings and Blurred Vision. 

Now after some time out JCMM is back with a bang , linking up with new and old partners , unleashing some top notch productions.

Already tracks signed to Abstrakt Dance aka home to legend Techno DJ , Colin Dale , plus working with another key contributor to dance music , electronic , acid , techno ......from Boys Own regular sets to the band Underworld ......from Underwater Records , now Detone ....Darren Emerson ......last but not least .....Reboot Prague ....getting involved ...new label that has been involved within the scene with D&B back in the day now doing Techno.
