In March 2019, a dream was born. They decided to combine their visions about music and started producing together. After six months of learning and failing, they produced their first track that was ready to see the light of day.
Daan & Markos, two brothers from the Netherlands, always were passionate about music.
When he was 10 years old, Daan played the drums in several bands where he was introduced to genres like: gospel, jazz and pop. Bands like Snarky Puppy and Dreamtheather are great inspirations for PORTADDIS’ melodies and grooves.
With his headphones on Markos always listened carefully to every melody that reached his ear and at the age of 12, he started to create melodies on the piano.
When he was 16 and went to his first electronic dance party, it did not took long before he bought his own dj controller and started mixing.
This interest only kept growing even to the stage where he infected his brother with the same idea to start playing and producing electronic music.
PORTADDIS was born: PORT coming from Port-au-Prince the birthplace of Daan and ADDIS from Addis Ababa the birthplace of Markos.Their goal is to create a liveset where they can show their love and passion for playing live instruments in combination with the deepness and groove of melodic techno.

Dans Montpellier, Töfie guidée par les circonstances de ses rencontres avec des artistes issus de la scène alternative franco-belge dresse une carte de la création souterraine en rebaptisant leurs titres d’après la ville qui les a vu naître.

Après l'électronica tantôt douce ou tranchante d'un premier opus, "Powers of Ten" (2015), qui déjà surprenait par sa production étoffée dans le giron du très lo-fi et inventif label montpelliérain Linge Records, Tofië durcissait le son depuis les entrailles de la Terre avec un "From Earth" (2018) aux beats massifs et aux productions granuleuses, plus sombre et tellurique, entre synthwave, trip-hop sismique et réminiscences industrielles.

Le point commun entre ces deux albums à l'univers très personnel, à la fois stratosphérique et caverneux, futuriste et tribal, pop et aventureux ? La voix, élément central dont les circonvolutions décomplexées explorent les sonorités de plusieurs langues, du Français à l'Anglais en passant par l'Allemand et même l'Islandais, symbole d'une fascination auquel rend hommage en 2019 l'EP Seasick enregistré avec Dubix, ami beatmaker rencontré en ces terres de feu et de glace.

Aussi chamanique qu'éthéré, le chant de la musicienne, son instrument originel qui la poussera en 2012 sur la voie de l’instrumentation et de la production pour en développer l'écosystème mi analogique mi digital, n'est pas pour peu de chose dans la dimension organique et à fleur de peau que revêtent ces ambivalentes fééries du caveau, déjà comparées à Fever Ray, Gary Numan ou Anne Clark. Mais c'est avant tout par la maturité de ses compositions métamorphes annonçant bien des pérégrinations soniques que Töfie magnétise l'auditeur sur disque comme sur scène."

One year ago, I listened to a song from michaonfire and Sonia called Njoum (Stars) and instantly liked their vibe https://soundcloud.com/user-769640726-833291896/micha-sonia-njoum-demo.
I asked Micha if I could do some sort of remix/interpretation and he luckily sent me the stems of their recordings. I had a lot of stuff to do the last summer, so it took me quite a while to start this remix and get it done. Hope you like it :)

Yo crecí en un lugar donde la poesía y la música trova de Silvio Rodríguez se escuchaba siempre. En un tiempo donde resonaba la revolución política, los chicos encontrábamos un aire de profundidad en el arte que nos rodeaba. En esencia, todos queríamos también ser poetas.

Esta canción ha sido una de mis favoritas de este cantautor. Una de las mas famosas, claro. Y saber que se la escribió a un amor imposibilitado por la guerra en Cuba. Me conmovió a editarla a una versión moderna downtempo para poder escucharla y bailarla. Para sentir esa pasión que todos en estos tiempos sentimos por amores o libertad imposibilitada de cierta manera.

OJALÁ que logremos transformar en belleza esos sentimientos, así como Silvio logró componer una de las piezas más hermosas a partir de tanto dolor.

I grew up in a place where Silvio Rodriguez's poetry and ‘trova’ music were constantly played. In a time where the political revolution was always present, we as kids found ourselves surrounded by an atmosphere of artistic depth. In essence, we all also wanted to be poets.

This song has been one of my favorites from this Cuban singer-songwriter. ‘Ojalá’ means ‘hopefully’ in Spanish and it is one of his most famous songs written by Silvio to a lost love prevented by the war in Cuba. I felt the impulse to edit this piece to a modern downtempo version so it could become part of our present story. So we can dance to the same passion that all of us in these times feel for love or freedom that is prevented to us in a certain way.

I made sure the feeling is transmitted in the atmosphere of the music.

Hopefully (Ojalá), we can transform those feelings into beauty, just as Silvio managed to compose one of the most beautiful pieces from so much pain.

I have not been able to recover access to my other account [https://soundcloud.com/ha-kekong] for a couple of years.  I have tried a few times to get back into it but SoundCloud doesn't trust me.  Same phone number, same email addresses, and they still claim that they can't verify my identity.  I created that account about three years ago as a substitute to my regular account which SoundCloud temporarily closed.  They closed it as part of some upgrade procedure in their system, the result of a bug that affected many accounts, about two years ago.  Since SC did not inform its users I didn't know if that was permanent or not, so I created that other account which I can't access.  Don't be mad if I have not replied to your message in the past two years, that's because I never got them ; ) ... You can always reach me here though.

You can't see it because of the angle with which I took the shot, aiming down, but beyond those blocks is the sea.  To the left is the Mediterranean, to the right is the Atlantic Ocean.  No it's not Gibraltar, but a little bit further West. ... Actually I checked recently and it is further North more than West, I thought I was facing South when in fact I probably was facing the Atlantic ocean, which is why I suppose the waves were of a decent size where we were.
