A Skitzo has the rare ability to transmit deep and emotive sonics with his productions. Forgotten Story EP is no exception to this simple fact. This release features 3 tracks, all of which stand out on their own while also working together as a perfect unit to complete this EP. It's hard to put A Skitzo's style in a box but this release lends itself to the deep/organic house sounds under the electronic music umbrella.

MAUGLI blends vibrant sounds and driving rhythms from all over the globe. With a background as a drummer and of various styles, his genre-bending music blends sampling and recording into a lively collage. His crisp arrangements balance an electronic yet organic feeling.

His debut album “Alba” (translated from Italian as “sunrise“) is inspired by traditional music and the dance rituals of various Afro cultures and their diaspora such as capoeira, work songs or gnawa.
While seeking to translate their spirit into the present day, MAUGLI combines these elements with electronic music, wobbling synthesizers and stomping beats.

“Ladainha” is a soulful homage to the capoeira culture featuring Professor Chipreu PDM and "Baksheesh" to the rich American blues tradition, with hypnotic synth riffs and chopped up guitar licks resolving in a south african chant (recorded in the late 1950`s).

“Mizan” opens with a pounding Guembri (a traditional gnawa three-stringed lute) accompanied by it’s descendant the ’banjo‘, allowing the sampled berber vocals to shine through. “Rawa’s” striking guitar riff is set up against biting synth blobs and piano chords, Nigerian fiddles and chants that swing us deeply into the groove.

This song, originally written for my 2nd daughter Joanna, was one of my first ventures into Latin Jazz.  Exceptionally talented pianist Debra Buesking heard it and wanted to add her Latin seasoning to it, and did she ever.  I love the spice she gave it; part Bossa, part Tango, all Debra.
Thank you my friend for the collaborations we have shared this year, and this maybe the most fun.  We hope you think so too:)  Hear more of Debra's fine playing and original arrangements @debra_buesking.

The second release from Berlin based label Ashram Records comes from one of the label heads Cetin Sahin together with Ethno House producer Yavuz Ak and reflects the more rhythmic club side of the label.

We were able to commit one of the most exciting Berlin underground Tech-House ladies DJ Aroma to remix the track "His". The result is a trippy house rework with her signature vibe and much attention to detail!

Anybody else prevented from accessing SC servers via VPN?  All of them are blocked for me.  This is the first time it happens to me in six or seven years of almost daily SoundCloud activity.  I use a VPN in SC because when I don't I get horrible delays that show up in many different ways.  The only explanation I have found is that somehow their security/identification system has flagged my IP address and introduced all kinds of speed bumps.  It makes the experience very unpleasant, irritating.

You can't see it because of the angle with which I took the shot, aiming down, but beyond those blocks is the sea.  To the left is the Mediterranean, to the right is the Atlantic Ocean.  No it's not Gibraltar, but a little bit further West. ... Actually I checked recently and it is further North more than West, I thought I was facing South when in fact I probably was facing the Atlantic ocean, which is why I suppose the waves were of a decent size where we were.
