An interrogation of identity pervades every corner of Zeynep Ağcabay’s ‘Ancestral Ground’, the debut body of work under her birth name. As someone who has formed their practice creating soundscapes for high fashion labels and runway shows, this mini-album represents the artist finally being given full creative license. Although Zeynep’s Turkish ancestry is heard amongst all seven tracks, it is not simply a borrowing or a homage. Very much still connected both geographically and culturally with her ancestral ground, the Turkish ney flute present throughout these recordings evokes a gesture of respect to her father’s fostering of a musical upbringing and an inquisitive gaze into the timbrality of instruments operating within a wholly different embedded culture than those of the West.

A growing community of London-based artists with roots elsewhere are investigating what geographically and culturally mixed identities can mean when translated into sonic offerings (see: Flora Yin-Wong, Nexcyia, Ewa Awe, Susu Laroche, Nkisi). What perhaps sets Zeynep Ağcabay apart is the complex feelings of anguish towards a bureaucratic system which has been the hostile backdrop to their years living in London, unable to move freely around Europe and necessitating an implementation of composition-as-labour to survive an overwhelmingly unlivable city. This is the dissonant shadow-self sibling of mea0u, Zeynep’s deconstructed pop moniker, and from the Portishead trip-hop leanings channelled at the end of ‘Umay Ana’ straight into the nine minute closing track ‘Ak Ana’, these are perfect representations of this shadow-self succeeding in turning malevolence into a euphoric device.

With immense excitement and anticipation, we are gearing up to enter the recording studio to start the creation of our upcoming album, slated for recording and capture in the vibrant and colorful autumn of 2025.

This highly anticipated project promises to capture not only our artistic growth and transformation over time, (30 plus years!!!) but also the profound emotional connections and resonances we’ve cultivated through our electrifying live performances, as AOR and beyond which have made lasting impressions on both us and our audience.

The current US administration mostly fears educated people.  That's why they are blockading Cuba who's population is more literate than the Americans.

As far as Iran goes the US only threatens the regime, besides its historical support for the Palestinians and the nuclear problem, because it has been the only country in the region who, in the recent years, have resisted the American hegemony, so the White's House wants to make an example: don't you dare oppose our views or we'll shower you with bombs and missiles.  Anyone following these developments knows the current US administration couldn't care less about the Iranian people, ... they don't even care about their own.
It's all about negotiations and as we have all noticed Trump's method is to start with a slap in the face.  He's a truly charming guy, the new American.

* Large numbers of civilians keep on getting shot and blown up still in Yemen, Sudan, Ukraine. Gaza which is still a nightmare for thousands of innocent people, especially the weak and the sick, the very young children, as it is everywhere, always.  There are countless more lesser known cases just like these, but smaller, where instead of having tens of thousands of people maimed, raped, killed, you have only thousands.  Pathetic is the best term I can find.  It is pathetic in particular for the so called international community.  What are the countries, the governments of this new economically integrated World doing you may ask?  Well I will tell you one thing they are doing, and it is no secret, which is to sell the warring factions guns, missiles, tanks, helicopters, and other very expensive toys that are excellent for creating jobs, good paying jobs, and help a few very rich people make more money.

That is not only cynical, it is factually true.  This state of affairs suggests that we should regard human beings as naturally hypocrites, as we all have been witnessing this for quite a long time now. When talking about "human nature" ii is often implied that we can't change our own systems, customs, our culture.  It is immutable, eternal.  This is where intelligence and free will come in, or so it would seem to me.  That we can't change ourselves especially in today's world is completely absurd.  Just think about it. ... I forgot to mention de health problems, the epidemics and the psycholgical damage ...

You can't see it because of the angle with which I took the shot, aiming down, but beyond those blocks is the sea.  To the left is the Mediterranean, to the right is the Atlantic Ocean.  No it's not Gibraltar, but a little bit further West. ... Actually I checked recently and it is further North more than West, I thought I was facing South when in fact I probably was facing the Atlantic ocean, which is why I suppose the waves were of a decent size where we were.
