What's up everyone ?? It's been basically 14 months since my last upload here !!

Since my last upload included almost a full hour of filthy halftime & heavy drum & bass, I decided to contrast that by throwing down a deep 140 dubstep mix for all of my OG listeners. <3 I tried to keep it short & sweet but include some of my favourite tunes dating all the way back to 2012. As always, you'll also find a handful of Conscious Wave releases in there (both FORTHCOMING & out now). Huge shout out to the artists on this playlist !! <3

Even though live events & IRL bookings have been a total right off for most of us over the past year, I just wanted to give a huge thanks & shout out to anyone who has been listening to my mixes during the pandemic regardless. A massive thank you as well if you have been following everything that we have been doing over at @conscious-wave during this rollercoaster ride of a year (our video uploads, articles, track releases, compilation releases, virtual events, radio show & more) !! .

Hailing from Thessaloniki, Greece, Alpha Sect is a project of George McCall, which is focused on breaking electro patterns and pumping body music with serious punk influences. He started his music career as a guitarist in the post-metal band Sleepstream with 2 albums on their track record and he is an active musician with participations in physical theatre performances with his side-project. With already 4 EP releases on prominent labels such as OSM Tapes, Kein Rauch Ohne Feuer, Pildoras Tapes & Forkha, Alpha Sect strikes back with a vinyl release on SOIL RECORDS. INSANE INDUSTRY Recordings & HYDRA CVLT Label Head and Founder, Lobotomija together with his creative Studio Das Kollektive and a graphic designer as well as a sound engineer.
Always passionate about music in general, in 2004 he first approached the Dance Hall scene and evolved in the following years to electronic sounds such as Jungle and Drum and Bass to get closer in 2007 to a "Oldies Goldies" Techno scene.
Since 2008 he began his research of sound in the events of his city and neighboring Slovenija where he will then find space with his first project "NoMore Art" where he begins to churn out evenings of Techno music and a 3- day Festival that mixes different electronic styles .
He immediately collaborates with the realities of his city such as Electrique and Etnoblog where he has the opportunity to deepen the Techno / Dark and Industrial genre and thus approaching international artists proposed by the club such as SNTS, Stanislav Tolkachev, Ancient Methods, Domenico Crisci, AnD, Adam X, Bas Mooy, Dasha Rush, Sunil Sharpe, Milton Bradley, Inigo Kennedy, Kwartz, Ctrls, Oscar Mulero, Perc, Exium, Reeko just to name a few.
Thus he arrives in 2015 where he begins his INSANE INDUSTRY Recordings project first as a podcast community and then evolving into a real label mixing new artists with international producers and DJs.
Today, 7 years after the foundation of his first project has started releasing some of his productions on labels such as INSANE INDUSTRY Recordings, Das Kollektive, Pure Hate 000, Panzer Trax, Critical Revolution, Metaphysical Recordings and others, thus continuing to manage his labels INSANE INDUSTRY Recordings & HYDRA together with the studio Das Kollektive and the newly entered Booking Agency Rave Insane.

Shrouded In Darkness

The newest DJ set  for our PLAY. podcast servies was prepared by Bratislava based DJ ANK. ANK has been involved in electronic music scene since early 2000`s when he hosted many festivals and events. In 2001, when the already legendary Czech magazines Trip - mag and X - mag and mixed CDs came into his hands, this experience affected him so much that electronic music became his everyday addiction. In the beginning, as a clubber he attended well-known clubs and events all over Europe, which created a desire to organise his own event. It's the year 2005 and, with the strong support of DJ Andy K (Andre Tribale), he orgaised his first event called Cream Biscuit Open Air, where with the help of Andy K, he stood behind the mixer for the first time. He had a break from organising events for several years, focusing mainly on finding his right musical path. He started playing active in 2009 and he returned behind mixing desk at Music is The Answer. At the end of 2010, he founded the project Music: Affair, whose main direction is house music, where local names have performed. In 2011, he organised his second big Open Air under the brand Music: Affair, where 12 DJs performed and he played at the open air event BeeFree for the first time. In 2016 Ank founded Asfalt Soundsystem together with bbk (David Cierny). Same year he become a part of Serbian project Lobotomija and year after he established Derivate (Asfalt Soundsystem) warehouse party which takes important role in Bratislava nightlife. Ank is founder of OLAM collective platform (https://soundcloud.com/olam_collective) that emphasises uniqueness in the local sphere. Collective that combines an artist’s potential with the opportunities to represent themselves in between new waves of sub-communities searching for something deeper than what they have been used to up to now. Grateful for being in right circumstances he visited many places and meet people that influenced his current music presentation. He is the creator and the seeker of an atmospheric and vivid soundscapes. The flashing light and enigmatic sets are his trademark. #ANK is here to cut the dark.....His nearly 100-minute set today is a proof of that.

You can't see it because of the angle with which I took the shot, aiming down, but beyond those blocks is the sea.  To the left is the Mediterranean, to the right is the Atlantic Ocean.  No it's not Gibraltar, but a little bit further West. ... Actually I checked recently and it is further North more than West, I thought I was facing South when in fact I probably was facing the Atlantic ocean, which is why I suppose the waves were of a decent size where we were.
