At Last, a Drone

The art of listening is largely the art of understanding, the art of respecting and the art of giving in. Knowing how to listen is putting yourself in the place of others, being tolerant and flexible. We can understand the reasons of the others and we can see reality from another perspective. Having the ability to listen allows us to perceive the implicit message that is being communicated to us.

Nico Rosenberg is a producer and sound artist from Santiago (Chile) who stands out for his hopeful and melancholic sound. His work is a constant investigation of chance and random processes in the use of cassette recorders, synthesizers and acoustic instruments. Nico is currently studying Sound Arts in Berlin. About his mix, Nico adds: “More than a concept, it is an emotion”.

Deuxième partie de l'enregistrement du set ambient fait pour la performance co-créée avec Paul Clousier et Enzo Facchin lors de l'espace de création libre organisé par Wood et Rythmus le 20 mars 2022 à Paris.

La fin de la logique, l'ineffabilité du temps, la mort, la peur qui l'entoure, la panfiction dans laquelle nous évoluons -- et l'amour, comme toujours -- sont les thèmes que j'ai choisi d'évoquer en réponse au thème d'Alice au Pays des Merveilles. Comme chaque performance d'ambient, les titres des morceaux ont été choisis pour composer un poème ; ce poème sert de contrainte à la composition musicale du set en imposant l'ordre de passage des morceaux. L'identité du morceau se concentre ainsi dans son nom, pour se fondre dans l'unité du mix à 4 voies.

Here is the second part of the recording of my ambient mix I made for the performance we co-created with Paul Clousier and Enzo Facchin for the workshop organised by Wood and Rythmus in Paris on March the 20th 2022.

The end of logics,the ineffability of time, the death and its related fear, the pan-fiction in which we live, -- love as always -- are the topics I wanted to deal with in response of the theme "Alice in Wonderland". As in each ambient performance I make, the titles of the tracks were chosen to compose a poem ; this poem is the only constraint for composing, by imposing the order of the tracks. The identity of each track consists thus in its mere name, to get dissolved in the unity of the 4 decks mix.

2024/01/29:
What I wrote below was heart felt but presumptuous and pretentious.  I would have to not be stupid myself to be allowed to claim such a thing.  More importantly though, I don't believe it is correct or accurate.  These people are probably not stupid but just don't care.  Justice is a collective thing and many if not most people seem to live in bubbles.  It is perhaps economic oppression which is responsible, they just don't have the resources, the time, the energy to be concerned about what lies behond that bubble.  It used to be fine but there's this thing they call globalization which makes this increasingly impractical or impossible.

mid January 2024:
Justice and vengeance are not the same.  Apparently most people are too stupid to see the difference.  Unfortunately it is not something unique to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and not unique to group conflicts.

What happened to intelligence?  Aren't we supposed to be the "intelligent" specie.
