"Fantastic Journey" is an homage to writers such as Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and other pioneers from the early age of science fantasy.

Stunningly adventurous dark ambient, dronescapes, pulsing synths, melancholic strings, and exploratory ambient electronica take us on a journey of imagination and ingenuity. Tales are woven of fantastic voyages and feats of scientific endeavour, through subterranean worlds, mysterious unexplored islands, Utopian societies, travels through time, and the farthest reaches of outer space.

"Fantastic Journey" perfectly encapsulates the wondrous visions of these futuristic writers over the last 150 years. Designed for serious listening and exercising your imagination...

Originally released in 2013, we are proud to release "Fantastic Journey" on CD-proper for the first time, with an exclusive 10-minute bonus track, taking the intrepid listener on one last marvellous adventure.

Composed and performed using various samples, synthesizers, and field recordings by Anthony Paul Kerby (The Circular Ruins) and Thomas Park (Mystified).

Some generative stuff I did recently for falling asleep... reminded me a bit to my old sound, hence the name referring to the child game Snakes & Ladders (Gioco dell'oca in italian).

Höfer uses different sound sources and recording processes. One of his focus points is the collection of sounds and noises, which he predominantly records analogue and very rudimentary on tape, various voice recorders and microphones he holds dear. Höfer is collecting sounds indoors or in the field. Usually en passant.

“I like to listen if something interesting catches my ear, but not obsessively. I collect sounds, when I feel like it, not because a certain sound may be extraordinarily exquisite, making me want to trace it. I would regard that as a disruption of the moment, something I generally want to avoid. All works are related in one way or another. That is a desired and progressive feature that generally runs through my artistic work.“

For „Le Traviate“ he used sound images and single tracks from old recordings partly of former projects that haven’t been finished or (officially) released yet. He cut out instruments, modified and arranged them with material from dictaphone recordings, added noises and did some collages till he had created something new out of the old. The aged recordings and former compositions had given up their carved way, they have lost it if you will say so, and finally found their home years later in a completely different musical environment.

My linux won't boot so I'm presently forced to use Windows, and because of the bug in Soundcloud's system my account is all messed up when I don't use a VPN to connect which I am unable to do now... trying to get help from my VPN provider.  Because of this, and because I started working very long days I will be less present here.  Sorry, I'm trying.

Ever since the closing of this account by error by SC two or three months ago, this problem has remained unfixed.  Soundcloud and their AI are apparently still working on solving this and other problems with this account, and with my other account ; )

2024/01/29:
What I wrote below was heart felt but presumptuous and pretentious.  I would have to not be stupid myself to be allowed to claim such a thing.  More importantly though, I don't believe it is correct or accurate.  These people are probably not stupid but just don't care.  Justice is a collective thing and many if not most people seem to live in bubbles.  It is perhaps economic oppression which is responsible, they just don't have the resources, the time, the energy to be concerned about what lies behond that bubble.  It used to be fine but there's this thing they call globalization which makes this increasingly impractical or impossible.

mid January 2024:
Justice and vengeance are not the same.  Apparently most people are too stupid to see the difference.  Unfortunately it is not something unique to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and not unique to group conflicts.

What happened to intelligence?  Aren't we supposed to be the "intelligent" specie.
