"VALDA" is the third album from french Experimental Rock band TNHCH (The Night He Came Home), which cristallise a year plus period of collaborating with California-raised and now Rennes-based multi disciplinary artist & musician Hilary Galbreaith. After, directing several video clips and playing jointly with TNHCH for a handful of live shows in 2021 (including her own curated performance with the band at FRAC Bretagne), they sat down for a two-months residency at art center Synagogue de Delme (east of France) during the summer of 2022.

This artistic bubbling mess ended up in composing and recording this new record in only six days, as in a sonic rush to express the vitality of this gifted collective gathering. Ideas were colliding, both visually and musically, the heat was tangible and we were urged by this flaming sun to push ourselves harder, never mind the sweat stuck on our drumsticks and pickles. "VALDA" is our common spit on the ground, for you to lick until your fragile tongues can take no more. A cyclic licking for what its worth !

Oh Oh My Heart Stopped

This is a song that JJ came up with on the electric piano and shared with the rest of us. He's done a significant portion of the songwriting for the Eclectic Collective, and always gives us quality songs, to which are easy to add our voices. 
When he sent it to us, he had a rough bass on there that sounded like Lust for Life. Ken came up with a killer and appropriate beat, which, if you can picture Lust For Life, included a lot of accentuated bass kicks. 
So, Josh took and went with that, and came up with a funky bass line. Ken and he kicked it back and forth a few times till they linked up. Then JJ added some funky ass organ and trippy retro synth to spice it up.
 Then it was time to send it to the guitarist. Tez laid down some smoking lead solos throughout, with his signature fiery guitar tone and amazing licks. Then Stephen funked it up even more with a fonky-ass wah guitar track. 
 Ken produced and mixed this one for us, and what an excellent job he did, too. This was so much fun to create. We all hope you enjoy listening to our jam as much as we did playing it.

Here's a new version I did of the familiar holiday classic Auld Lang Syne. Based on a poem by Scottish poet Robert Burns, the title essentially refers to the remembrance of times past. As we draw close to the year's end, it's such an ideal time to do just that, and also to reflect on the hope and expectation of things yet to come.

Here's wishing you and yours a fond recollection of the year past, and a happy and prosperous New Year!

My linux won't boot so I'm presently forced to use Windows, and because of the bug in Soundcloud's system my account is all messed up when I don't use a VPN to connect which I am unable to do now... trying to get help from my VPN provider. What I wrote below was heart felt but presumptuous and pretentious.  I would have to not be stupid myself to be allowed to claim such a thing.  More importantly though, I don't believe it is correct or accurate.  These people are probably not stupid but just don't care.  Justice is a collective thing and many if not most people seem to live in bubbles.  It is perhaps economic oppression which is responsible, they just don't have the resources, the time, the energy to be concerned about what lies behond that bubble.  It used to be fine but there's this thing they call globalization which makes this increasingly impractical or impossible.

mid January 2024:
Justice and vengeance are not the same.  Apparently most people are too stupid to see the difference.  Unfortunately it is not something unique to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and not unique to group conflicts.

What happened to intelligence?  Aren't we supposed to be the "intelligent" specie.
