There is a cat

My name is Grahame Sanders. Born September 1945. My younger brother and co-writer is Stuart. The Rumbeats songs are also on YouTube.
Back in the 1960's Stuart and myself bought guitars (like lots of others) and having self taught formed a group with a friend, Leslie Hunter, who played drums. We mainly played for our own amusement with the odd gig for family and friends. Apart from the drum kit we played using inadequate home made amplifiers. My older brother, David, jokingly called us The Rumbeats. The name stuck and compared with the names of groups that followed that no longer seems so bad!

Stuart and I started to write our own songs. We never performed them in public but we did record many of them on a Philips reel to reel tape recorder in our bedroom at home (without the drummer). Life moved on, the group was abandoned and the tapes were forgotten about.
After I had retired I started to repair 1950's and 1960's transistor radios as a hobby and I came across the tapes, with the recorder, which had been packed away and never unpacked through a number of house moves. The recorder needed repair so I set about this and it was at this point I discovered that the tapes contained our original songs. I transferred then to my computer but did nothing more with them.
Years later I rediscovered them, burned them onto a CD and sent my brother a copy. He was thrilled. Although some of the songs aren't brilliant, to say the least, I don't think we made a bad job of recording them, considering. When I listen to songs today I begin to think that our tunes and lyrics were more than acceptable. It would be interesting to see how they would sound if professionally arranged and played.
The recorder was able to dub tracks so we were able to add further instruments to the original recordings.
I still think that some of these songs could hold their own against some of the efforts thrust upon us by the European Song Contest or am I just dreaming!?
In an effort to preserve these songs and to see if anyone else might enjoy them I have decided to upload them onto SoundCloud.com plus a few more that were written by me in the early 2000's (by then I had forgotten how to play the guitar so the extra songs are just my voice).
So, the songs from the tape have the photo of the group and as I resumed song writing in the early 2000's for a short time these have a photo of myself. I still occasionally write a song and may post here at some point.
I hope the songs are enjoyed.
