Meet AJ Woodworth: Country’s new Wildcard!!!

New Canadian country music sensation AJ Woodworth is not only playing the Wildcard on her debut 604 Records album: she is the “Wild Card.”

When you hear the explosive and passionate chorus of The 2011 British Columbia Country Music Awards’ Female Artist of the Year’s sparkling personal anthem “Wild Card,” you’re hearing the life story behind the ambitious turbo-powered voice:

Where Canada’s newest country dynamo currently sits now is as a contender, jumping out of the gate with a superb rookie effort that offers attitude – and then some – with her remarkable 10-song debut album Wildcard, primarily recorded in Nashville produced in part by Chad Carlson (Taylor Swift.)

She even plays well with others, chiming in with The Higgins’ Kathleen Higgins for the heart-wrenching ballad “Good Time For A Goodbye;” heats up her frustration on the Jason Blaine-Tebey co-write “Cold,” and offers plenty of spunk on “Live It Up,” co written by Ramsay and Steve Marshall. With producers Chad Carlson, Josh Ramsay, Paul Shatto, David Wills and Ryan Stewart at the helm, AJ Woodworth’s captivating country cosmopolitan sound and real songs for real women come signed, sealed and delivered a with the declaration, “I’m ready!”

“Music has always been my first love,” the dazzling brunette declares, “While my girlfriends were more interested in boys, I always focused on finding my next chance to take to the stage. I’ve been singing since I was eight years old and I have been working and preparing for this opportunity my whole life”.

Mentored earlier in her career by Susan Jacks, her vocal coach Judith Rabinovitch and producer Bill Buckingham (Jaydee Bixby), AJ Woodworth pledged her allegiance to country music after a trip to Nashville inspired her to follow her true dream.

After recording an album, AJ signed with Jonathan Simkin and 604 Records.

“I got in touch with Jonathan and 604 about two years ago. I had recorded an independent album with Bill Buckingham in Nashville, and Jonathan was really supportive with getting back to me, and giving critiques.
“I respected Jonathan a lot for giving me his honest feedback. Then two years later we were going to actually sign with someone else, but my gut feeling was that I belonged on 604. I really like what they do and what they’ve done with Jessie Farrell.

“So just before I was about to sign, I e-mailed Jonathan and said, ‘I’ve got some new songs and I’d really love to play them for you.’

“I came in, he liked them, and we’ve been working together ever since.”

A Canadian Country Music Association New Artist Showcase Award winner, AJ Woodworth says there are a few things you should know about her.

She has two sisters, bowls, and owns a miniature “high-maintenance” hypoglycemic Dachshund Chihuahua named Oscar. Thanks to her father, she grew up on a diet of Brooks & Dunn, Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison and helps run a nursing home, which is the family business.

She’s also the Gold Heart spokesperson for Variety, the Children’s charity, a cause close to her heart.

“I once sold gold hearts from door to door,” Miss Woodworth recalls. “I think Variety teaches children at a young age how important it is to raise money for other children. Kids helping other less fortunate children is wonderful.”

She loves shoes (yeah, we’re talking to you, potential sponsors Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Badgley Mischka ) and wouldn’t be caught dead without her high heels on stage.

And she states that her Wildcard debut “ really reflects who I am.”

“This album has been a lot of years in the making. I’m grateful for the time I got to develop my sound carefully, song by song, that truly captured the essence of me.”

“There’s nothing else I’ve ever wanted to do,” AJ adds. “Music is the most important thing to me; it can make me feel better, and I have always wanted to affect someone like that through the songs that I write and my song selection.”

Most tellingly, AJ Woodworth knows that it’s important to make a good and memorable impact.

Hailing from Adelaide, South Australia, Househeads Luke & Dan aka “The House Inspectors” are starting to make their mark on the global house music scene. As producers, this dynamic duo are renowned for their original songwriting and soulful bumpy sound, incorporating live vocal cuts to their jams. What sets these two apart from the rest is the fact that most of their catalogue of tracks are fully recorded, bringing a “live” vibe to the listeners with that infectious driving beat behind all the works. They have released tracks on some of house music’s most esteemed labels including Guesthouse, Flapjack and Control, with huge support from heavyweights Frankie J, Random Soul, Joshua Heath, Chuck Love and Jay-J to name a few.

Charismatic, captivating and magnetic Thato “DJ Fresh” Sikwane, is one of SA’s most recognised energetic and dynamic voices of Radio.

DJ Fresh boasts a diversity of talents that have seen him making major waves in the South African entertainment industry for over 30years. He is a sought-after television personality, popular social media sensation, and prolific radio and international club DJ.

Born in Botswana, Fresh discovered his love for music at the age of 13 where he deejayed at Boarding School. He then went on to do his first radio show in 1992 on Botswana’s RB2. His passion for the entertainment industry then led to him leaving his law studies to pursue Media studies and Journalism full time in 1994. 

In 1997, Fresh joined regional station YFM – where he coined the term Yona Ke Yona - at its inception as the host to the afternoon drive, later switching to the breakfast drive in 2003. In a big and bold move, Fresh joined national radio station 5FM in 2006. This move solidified Fresh as one of the Biggest radio personalities in SA to date with a massive crossover and cross border audience. And now, in a shock move, Metro FM welcomed DJ Fresh onto the urban radio station as host of the breakfast show.

Throughout his entertainment career, his love of house music has pushed boundaries and led to the release of numerous classic albums including the popular “Fresh House Flava” series – which have been highly instrumental in the consumption of House music throughout South Africa. He has also been a lead influence on launching some of SA’s household DJ such as Euphonik; Cleo; Kent; Sbu; Monde; Ryan The DJ; Dino Bravo etc. 

His electrifying ability to mix house music has landed Fresh on International stages throughout Johannesburg, Miami, London, Cape Town, Moscow, Brisbane, Ibiza, Leeds, Durban, Gaborone, Birmingham, Dubai, Montreal and Melbourne where he shared the DJ booth with “Little Louie” Vega, Armand Van Helden, Oskido, Jazzy Jeff, Ready D, Vinny Da Vinci, Christos, Gregory, Black Coffee, Kshmr, David Guetta, DJ Snake, Dash Berlin, Headhunterz and Martin Garrix. 

Unafraid to always reinvent the game it is no wonder that Fresh has been able to branch out into various projects aligned with the entertainment industry and build a successful business structure under his name. As a multi-faceted personality, Fresh has efficaciously run his own company Big Dawg Productions; partnered with Euphonik to create the mega brand property F.Eu; and formed part of a collective of DJ’s, producers, media personality and musicians called DJU. Inspired by international conferences such as The Miami Winter Music Conference, DJU established the Southern African Music Conference in 2005 which held crucial talks for deejays and producers and DJs - it is a critical platform for Southern African dance music industry practitioners to keep pace with, and eventually lead global developments.

Apart from his contagious laugh being heard on radio and being seen on international stages, Fresh also lends his entertainment expertise to reality talent Show – SA’s Got Talent as a trusted Judge.
His loyal fans have continued to grow into the millions on radio and TV; and have followed his every career move. More so, fans have revelled in excitement as The Big Dawg announced his major move to Metro FM as host of the Fresh Breakfast this year. 

It is not surprising that DJ Fresh is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon as his career continues to grow at an exponential rate. Biography:
Kirti Gill is a dance music producer who has a talent for Progressive House and New Age Trance music production (primarily Dance). He started eight years ago where he was on and off in music production, however in the past year or so he has learnt a lot and he has used this in his music, things like having the right tools to mix and master a track & the techniques to mix music well to a standard he is now proud off. Right now he is very pleased with his sound and he is looking to expand his understanding even further with the professionals he meets along the way; as well as the people he has met on SoundCloud, this is his intention of having an account on SoundCloud to meet and engage with an audience of like minded people.

Four years ago Kirti was subject to a mental disorder in which he was gifted with great opportunities along the way and that as a whole turned him into a entirely better producer. . Programs like Raw Material in Brixton gave him an opportunity to branch out and make music for like minded individuals; this as well as meeting great people helped him to be proud of his product and he says (“Its all thanks to the support the UK has given people who have gone through mental trauma”). Along with this he got a chance to be a part of the Amy Winehouse Foundation; where he currently went through constant evolution in his music skill and understanding of many other avenues in the sector, he says (“Again another great opportunity given to young individuals thanks to networks like Raw Material and to the Social Care Workers who discovered these opportunities that I had no idea existed for people like myself'').

So all in all he would like to say that he is very proud of what he has gone through and has no regrets in his life till date, all of these opportunities have changed him into a more upbeat, positive & placid person, for this he says, (“There are no words that give it justice and I am forever grateful'').

Biography:
After getting exposed to techno, house, and raves in the early 90’s, Majestee began making mixed tapes and playing at local house parties before getting booked at a warehouse rave in 1997. Known for his hardcore, Majestee has gone on to expand his musical horizons including drum & bass, dubstep, and hardstyle. He has produced countless mixtapes, CDs, and events propelling him to become a sought after DJ in LA's electronic dance music community. With several residencies, including Audio Asylum, Audio Science, I Love LA, and many upcoming projects, he shows no signs of slowing.

Majestee has performed at events headlined by world-famous artists such as Run-Dmc, DJ Q-Bert, Sir Mix-a-Lot, Frankie Bones, 808 State, Woody Mc Bride, Adam X, Omar Santana, Hellfish, DJ Jokey, Inner Child, The Pharcyde, Mc Rage, Placid K, Destroyer, Geoff Da Chef, Digital Boy, Tommyknocker, Ophidian, Africa Bambatta, D-Passion, Richard Humpty Vission, Sir Mix-a-Lot, X-Ecutioners, Kenny Larkin, Derrick May, Angerfist, Felix Da Housecat, T-1000, Pascal, Shy FX, John B, Odi, DJ Spooky, 3D, Keoki, Bad Company, Twisted Individual, Donald Glaude, Angel Alanis, CZR, Keoki, Goldie, and more. He has also performed at many of LA’s legendary venues such as The Los Angeles Sports Arena, National Orange Show (NOS Events Center), House of Blues, The Orion, Masterdome, Hudson, Knitting Factory, as well as countless other clubs, warehouses, and cities.

In 1999, Majestee founded The Artificial Intelligence Unit and has gone on to produce over 70 events. The AIU's first project was the annual event “51-50: The Looney Bin”. These "51-50" events took place inside dirty warehouses, halls, lofts, and restaurants across LA for 5 years. Guests included Jappo (Italy), Berzerker (Australia), and DJ Tron. The end of 2004 gave birth to The A.I.U.’s latest project, “Audio Asylum, a monthly event which showcases international hardcore, drum & bass, dubstep, and techno talent. Past guests have included DJ Swamp (Beck), Delta-9 (Chicago), DJ Tron (Chicago), Lenny Dee (NY), Simon Underground (UK), Tieum (France), Radium (France), Bryan Fury (Holland), Matt Green (UK), Budburnerz (France), Moleculez (Holland), Ewun (NY), Social Security (UK), as well as L.A.’s own legends.

Majestee also spent nine years as the music buyer and marketing director for Music Revolution, an independent record where he organized in-store promotions with artists like Psycho Realm, DJ Muggs, Kottonmouth Kings, Living Legends, 2Mex, Delinquent Habits, and Egyptian Lover.

He touched bigger audiences on radio shows like Radiobomb 90.7fm, drumnbass.tv, themixshow.com, orbitradio.fm, and The Revolution Show as well as working along side radio personality Tattoo and B-Real of Cypress Hill on breal.tv 

After releasing “Gang Violence People” with Fiend on Altern-Hate Recordings, performing as half of the hardstyle act The Commanders [facebook.com/thecommandersla],  Majestee returned to his roots of 303 laced acid and psychedelic music by unleashing goa and psy-trance at events across So Cal's Mojave Desert. Get ready for a new chapter. Now Majestee is still pushing the barriers of hard dance music with his special sound of hardcore.
