this is a pretty old cover from somewhere around 2020 if im remembering right - funnily enough it was actually originally meant to be a fanmade enemy approaching theme for sonic adventure: grounded before i decided to just call it a regular remix but then i just proceeded to not upload it for another 3 years
i think it's still actually sort of decent but you can tell it's old from the really loud bass and the fuckin virtual riot samples lol
i have a very, very tiny amount of stuff i never posted but still have the mp3s/oggs for, so i may post them here eventually but dont count on it

Super Mario Bros. CD - Title Theme & Grasslands

an original sonic track i was writing for sonic frenzy's 'special areas' back in 2023, which were intended to be sonic jam esque 3d levels you could unlock and play inbetween the main game, collecting unnamed shards that would unlock you 'frenzy sonic' in subsequent replays of frenzy

i could never really flesh out the idea flat enough to a point where i felt it was valid tho, so i scrapped it. this specific track was meant for the very first level, which i wanted to represent the scrapped level 'blue lake' from sonic 2, similar to how they put mirage saloon in mania to represent dust hill/sand shower (and also desert dazzle lol)

created using syxg50, massive, the grandeur and m1. sharing as it's technically a demo lol

Ahh, Wood Zone. One of those levels from the beta version of Sonic 2 that is sometimes overlooked for the more popular Hidden Palace or very early Dust Hill. It never had its own music, instead using an early rendition of Metropolis's music, leading to the whole time-travel theories where Wood Zone was the past version of it, etc. Good times.

This music, however, originates from a fangame idea of the yesteryear, Sonic 2 Gold Edition. Originating as just a website and some hoax images, at some point a team was formed to work on this, with the amazing https://soundcloud.com/dmashura working on the tracks and myself on the zone art at the time. The music you're hearing is actually for a zone that was labelled Frigid Forest, but back when Sonic ROM hack music editing first started (with Sonic 2 Beta being the ROM to work on, somehow) I decided the old track fit Wood Zone nicely. From then on, I always preferred it as such. I've made several SMPS renditions of it over the years, as well as mixes more like this. I should work on another SMPS one soon, I think.

This rendition of the track has actually gone through several iterations, with changes made to the lead, the drums, the filtering, etc. over the years. I was never completely happy with it, though, and actually completely forgot about it until I came across a cache of old project files at the beginning of the week. So, I decided to work on it yet again, and this is the result. I'm actually 99% happy with it now, the 1% reserved for if I decide to change it further later on. :U
